The Pain and Pleasure of Sexuality with Cadell Last and Genevieve Pleasure The Arc Podcast

    • Sexualité

The relationship between pain and pleasure is quite complicated. Too much of one or the other isn’t necessarily a good thing. But before any pleasure can happen, there has to be safety, which is the first step of my framework of authentic human expression. Feeling unsafe leads to the inability to feel pleasure.
If you’ve ever been stuck between pain and pleasure, keep listening.
Today I’m chatting with Cadell Last, the founder and creator of Philosophy Portal and author of Global Brain Singularity. Cadell and I catch up again after 4 years and we discuss sexuality and the human condition, the safety vs. adventure drive as it relates to pleasure, and how the relationship between pain and pleasure is very complicated.
Remember that there’s a duality in everything - life and death, pain and pleasure, safety and adventure, mundanity and ecstasy. It’s the true human condition to experience all sides to life and sexuality.
What’s in this episode:
Is the ground of the human condition really sexuality? And how death and unity play into it all
Choosing simplicity and the positives of absence and lack
My framework of authentic human expression and how it relates to the safety vs. adventure drive
In order to create a sustainable community, you have to self-regulate first before co-regulation can happen
Our culture as a whole thinks of sex as a way to escape discomfort, but we should actually sit with the discomfort instead
The relationship between pain and pleasure is complicated
