Here is the second part on the taboos of female friendship episode where the hosts will now explore the uncomfortable sentiments that sometimes manifest themselves in female friendship...envy, competition, projection....why do we feel this way toward the friends that we love? And why do we struggle to address this?
Also....why is the relationship that women have with their male partner so different from the ones that they have with female friends? Is it because women are really bad friends or there is more to this dynamic?
Always using a feminist framework to offer their analysis, the hosts discuss all these uncomfortable truths on the episode!

Voici la deuxième partie de l’episode sue les tabous l’amitié féminine où les animatrices vont maintenant explorer les sentiments inconfortables qui se manifestent parfois dans l’amitié féminine... l’envie, la compétition, la projection... pourquoi ressentons-nous cela envers les amies que nous aimons ? Et pourquoi avons-nous du mal à y remédier ?
Aussi... pourquoi la relation que les femmes entretiennent avec leur partenaire masculin est-elle si différente de celle que nous entretenons avec nos amies ? Est-ce parce que les femmes sont de très mauvaises amies ou est-ce parce que cette dynamique est plus complexe ?
Utilisant toujours un cadre féministe pour proposer leur analyse, les animateurs discutent de toutes ces vérités inconfortables dans l’épisode !

Who has never heard the phrase “being friends with women is too difficult”? Female friendships never had the best reputation. It seems like they’ve never been a collective agreement (even amongst women) on whether we find female friendships amazing or terrible.

In this episode our hosts acknowledge that both statements about female friendships can be true then explore the reasons why female friendships are everything at once: Terrible and amazing, nurturing and terrifying, easy and complexe.

Based on the feminist book “Between Women: Love, Envy, and Competition in Women's Friendships” written by Luise Eichenbaum and Susie Orbach , the hosts dive into a feminist analysis of female relationships while going through an honest introspection of their own relationships with women

Il semble qu’il n’y ait jamais eu d’accord collectif (même entre femmes) sur la question à savoir si les amitiés féminines sont époustouflante ou horrible 

 Dans cet épisode, nos animatrices reconnaissent ces deux affirmations sur les amitiés féminines peuvent être vraies et se penchent sur la raison pour laquelle les amitiés féminines sont tout à la fois : horrible et incroyable , nourrissantes et terrifiantes, faciles et complexes. 

Basé sur le livre féministe “Between Women: Love, Envy, and Competition in Women's Friendships”, les animatrices se plongent dans une analyse féministe des relations féminines tout en menant une introspection honnête sur leurs propres relations avec les femmes.

In this episode we’re tackling the genocide happening right now in Palestine. Since October 7th, the day of the Hamas “terrorist attack” on Israel, western media has been trying to push a specific narrative about what’s happening in Gaza, by repeating to the Grand Public that Israel has the right to defend itself under international law.
But what does that mean? Who exactly does Israel have the right to defend itself against when more than 40% of people living in Gaza are under 18? What is there to defend when Palestinians do not have an army and Israel possesses one of the strongest armies in the world?
 
With the help of our guest Samah, a Palestinian writer living in Montreal, we explore the history of Palestine and Israel’s occupation of their land. We also address US imperialism and the connection that we must make between the Palestinian people’s struggle and other genocides like the one currently happening in Congo.

Dans cet épisode, nous abordons le génocide qui se déroule actuellement en Palestine. Depuis le 7 octobre, jour de « l’attaque terroriste » de Hamas contre Israël, les médias occidentaux tentent de passer un message spécifique sur ce qui se passe à Gaza, en répétant au grand public qu’Israël a le droit de se défendre en vertu du droit international.
Mais qu'est ce que ça veut dire? Contre qui exactement Israël a-t-il le droit de se défendre alors que plus de 40 % des habitants de Gaza ont moins de 18 ans ? Qu’y a-t-il à défendre lorsque les Palestiniens n’ont pas d’armée et qu’Israël possède l’une des armées les plus puissantes du monde ?
 
Avec l’aide de notre invitée Samah, une écrivaine palestinienne vivant à Montréal, nous explorons l’histoire de la Palestine et l’occupation de leur terre par Israël. Nous abordons également l’impérialisme américain et le lien que nous devons établir entre la lutte du peuple palestinien et d’autres génocides comme celui qui se déroule actuellement au Congo.

Dans cet épisode, nous avons deux mères noires, dont une qui est une doula, pour explorer leur réalité de la maternité noire. Gabriella, mère d’un fils de 5 ans, était accompagnée de sa doula Arianne, mère de 5 enfants âgés de 2 à 15 ans. Nos invitées ont touchées sur ce qu’elles auraient aimé qu’on leur dise sur la maternité et ont déconstruit comment la romantisation de la maternité peut souvent mener à la déception et à de dures confrontations avec la réalité que beaucoup ne sont pas prêts à affronter. Les mères ont discuté de l’importance d’avoir une doula noire qui défendra les droits de la mères dans un monde où les femmes enceintes noires sont touchées de manière disproportionnée par des fautes professionnelles médicales, et elles ont aussi déchiffré certaines micro-agressions auxquelles elles sont obligées de s’attaquer en élevant des enfants noirs dans une société systématiquement raciste.
In this episode, we have two Black mothers, including one who is a doula, to explore their reality of Black motherhood. Gabriella, mother to a 5 year old son was accompanied by her doula Arianne, mother of 5 kids ranging from ages 2 to 15, as the two discussed what they wish they would have been told about motherhood, and deconstructed how the romantisation of motherhood can often lead to disappointment and harsh reality checks many are not ready to face. The mothers discussed the importance of having a Black doula who will advocate for your rights in a world where Black pregnant women are disproportionately affected by medical malpractice, as well as deciphered certain micro aggressions they are forced to tackle while raising Black kids in a systemically racist society.

Au cours des dernières années, la popularité du contenu true crime a significativement augmenté. On doit cette hausse en popularité du genre en grande partie à la sortie de ses divers documentaires, couvrant la vie de meurtriers ayant commis des crimes sordides. Le contenu semble devenir de plus en plus troublant, à tel point qu’on en vient à se demander pourquoi est-ce qu’il nous attire autant? Comment justifier cette curiosité morbide? Dans cet épisode nos deux animatrices explorent l’historique du genre true crime, et tentent de comprendre la raison pour laquelle l’audience du true crime ne cesse d’augmenter. Est-ce sain d’en consommer autant? Et serait-ce possible que nous perpétuons différents systèmes d’oppressions en consommant aussi avidement ce contenu?
 
Over the past few years, the popularity of true crime content has grown significantly. We owe this rise in popularity of the genre in large part to the release of its various documentaries, covering the lives of murderers who have committed sordid crimes. The content seems to be getting more and more disturbing, so much so that one comes to wonder why does it appeal to us so much? How can this morbid curiosity be justified? In this episode, our two hosts explore the history of the true crime genre, and try to understand why the audience for true crime continues to grow. Is it healthy to consume so much? And could we be perpetuating different systems of oppression by consuming this content so greedily?
