052 Preeti Minhas: How improve your consultation skills and achieve better person-centred care Pharmacist Diaries

    • Careers

On today's episode I am having a second discussion with Preeti Minhas on the podcast. Preeti and I had our first conversation back in September 2021, Episode 46. We enjoyed getting to know each other and we were aligned in so many ways that I invited her back onto the podcast for a second time.

As we both work in Education & Training, we discuss our opinions on virtual vs face-to-face learning and how we have been moulding our teaching techniques to support our students.

We also dive into a deep conversation about consultation skills and person-centred care. As pharmacists, we learn a lot at university about what we need to communicate to patients, however, with the pressures of time constraints, it can be difficult to get that information across to a patient without bombarding them with 20 things to remember about their new medication. In this episode, we provide some really useful advice on HOW to action it in practice. I am sure you will find it useful in your day-to-day practice!

As a reminder, Preeti is currently working as the Assistant Director of Clinical Learning for Education for Health.  Education for Health is a dynamic healthcare charity, providing education, training and support to a variety of healthcare professionals.  A platform that you should all go and check out online as it has lots to offer for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
