#86 - Amy Haas on running across the USA, 13.1 miles at a time A Runner’s Life

    • Running

This conversation is with Amy Haas who ran her first half marathon in 2013 in Chicago, Illinois. She ran with purpose and with passion, in memory of her cousin Scotty, who passed away many years ago from childhood cancer. She and her cousin chose to run in Chicago that year in order to raise money for cancer research. This was the catalyst for her goal.

Amy truly believes that the journey is the reward as she continues to reach her goal of running a half marathon in every state. Starting in Chicago with a time of nearly 2:00, Amy has chipped away at that time year after year, race after race, and state after state - with a most recent PR of 1:25 in 2020.

At the forefront of her running, is enjoying the journey, with the people close to you as the stories that make each race and state so unique. Whilst aspects of running can be about leaving it all on the table, crucially it’s about listening to your body and learning to trust yourself.

We also discuss the Run with Aim Program, which is a supportive and encouraging community of female runners from around the world that come together to run, have fun, and get stuff done in running and life. Click this link to find out more.
