Series of short self-contained scenes (vignettes)—entertaining and a wee bit provocative, especially if you are a woman of 'a certain age'. Helen is in her late-70s, adjusting to the reality of her ageing body, determined to claim her status as 'elder', 'crone', 'senior' with dignity, honesty and joy. Her family have other ideas, refusing to accept that she is, quite possibly, old. Written, performed and produced by Aussie-born, Liverpool-based actress, singer-songwriter and performance poet Flloyd Kennedy, with occasional guest performers.★★★★★ "This is delightful storytelling from Flloyd Kennedy. Gentle but deceptively sharp; underestimate the characters populating this podcast at your own peril. The writing, performance and music are all a joy." (via Podchaser)

Susie has lunch with her grandmother Helen, then heads off to visit her parents.  Helen calls daughter Janey to let her know Susie is on her way, and Jonathan answers the phone.  Jonathan is also from Australia originally, so he and Helen have some cultural tropes in common, like the First Dog on the Moon. And Helen want to discuss  'women's business' with Janey.

Australian actor Brett Heath Zooms in from Brisbane to join the Thunder's Mouth Theatre company ensemble to play Jonathan. You can treat him to a cup of coffee, or support the podcast on a regular basis by becoming a Patreon!  Thank you so much.  Stay safe.

    Keeping Up With the Zeitgeist

Season 2 is on!  Helen (in London) and her old college friend Joey (in Sydney) are chatting on Zoom, when Joey gets an unexpected phone call from Sadie, another college friend, who lives  in New Hampshire, and connects her up with Helen.  The joys of modern technology! They muse on the way Shakespeare is the voice of the Zeitgeist, and what? Rozzie never died, said she?

Just what is old?

You can’t help but love the lead character Helen as she tries to dodge the, “ Are you alrights,” from her family and she searches for the true meaning of the word “Old”
Flloyd is a master of timing and voices. Really enjoyable.
