The Dems thrash it out at their New Hampshire primary, with Bernie Sanders coming out top, on a terrible night for former vice-president Joe Biden.
Sopes and ‘the Zurch’ join the pod from their hotel room in New Hampshire and Maitlis is in a treehouse… don’t ask.

    Not Guilty

Spoiler alert… President Trump has been acquitted in his impeachment trial. Who’d have thunk it? But there’s still a lot to talk about, including Mitt Romney crossing the aisle to convict his fellow Republican on the first charge of abuse of power. Good but worrying

Decent first episode, but I was somewhat alarmed by Jon Sopel’s casual dismissal of Joe Biden’s rallies as dull, lacking a good line for the news bulletins, etc. It’s exactly this kind of media attitude that helped unleash the Trump nightmare on us in the first place, and it’s worrying that Sopel and co appear to have learned nothing.
Love the BBC and will continue listening to this podcast but I hope ‘Sopes’ may reflect on this at some point.

Very informative

As someone who knows a little about US politics, but is often confused, I definitely recommend Americast

It’s no brexitcast

Lacks the natural chemistry of brexitcast. Sopel comes across very public school and smug. Maitlis is what makes it worth a listen.
