The Elephant and Mahout Relationship with Maria Chen
Thailand's elephant tourism camps are famous around the world, thanks to social media. Many are closed now due to Covid-19, and Maria Chen and I sit down to talk about the welfare of elephants inside and outside of tourism camps. We also discuss the history of elephants in Thailand, the relationship between mahouts and their elephants, how travel bans are affecting elephants and their mahouts, and everything else that Maria learned while spending a month in Thailand, at the Mahouts Elephant Foundation, observing elephants.
Pacific Walrus vs. Melting Sea Ice
You've probably heard about the sea ice declining, but have you heard about how it's affecting walrus populations? In this solo episode, I discuss the reason behind walrus climbing high cliffs and tumbling down, as seen on Netflix's "Our Planet", and how climate change plays a role.
Street Dogs In Qatar
In this episode, we discuss the quality of life for dogs in the middle eastern country, Qatar. Street dogs roam the streets of Qatar suffering from malnutrition, disease, injuries, and dying litters. Sandra Blakely works with Paws Rescue in Qatar and Lily Zandi with Dogwood Rescue Society from Vancouver to help these animals find loving homes. Contact these rescues if you're looking to adopt.
