Ashes Ashes is a podcast about the end of the world. Each week we explore a new systemic or apocalyptic issue that society is facing now or will have to deal with in the coming decades. Through this we hope to draw the listener to the conclusion that our overarching economic and political systems are inherently flawed. Once that fact is accepted, it's that much easier to do something about it.

This Land Is My Land
Episode 104 - "This Land Is My Land"
You might be surprised how much our cities and streets are designed to keep people out. From spikes on sidewalks, baby shark music in our parks, to gates, buzzers, bouncers, water, deeds, and a whole bunch of clowns, and more! Why are our places designed to be so hostile to common enjoyment and peace? Why is it so important for white people to wall themselves off from the rest of the world? What does it mean to live in places designed like prisons on the eve of historic climate calamities? These and other questions are all explored as we contemplate and reflect on the crazy world that's driving us all nuts!

Customer Reviews
One of the most interesting pods out there.
You can tell David and Daniel put in a lot of research for their episodes. Every episode is well done and they cover plenty of topics. Am looking forward to new episodes coming out.
Well Researched and Engaging
All the episodes are great and contain detailed research as well as guest experts, I particularly recomend Lights Out, Life in Plastic, Designing Deception, What We Reap, Fashion Victems and Last Gasp... but every episode is very good. I have been both saddened and inspired by the content. David and Daniel are clearly passionate about the iminent (hopefully) collapse of capitalisim and the urgent need to change our relationship with this planent, its flaur, fauna and environment as well as how our current thoughtless exploitation extendes to our ruthless treatment of all human life through the increasing dehumanising of all those living outside of the "Modern Western Model" and all those existing below a certain income within that world eg: most of us. These guys deserve more recognition for what they are doing with this podcast A truly great Job guys I hope you can keep it up.
Edit: re Episode 96: This is excellent you guys should be applauded for such an in depth passionate piece of deep jurnalism I learnt a lot about your country and the manipulation of history in the cause of profit and control. just wanyed to thank you for such a great job.
Genuinely really interesting
I’m a listener in the UK. I was interested in the internet neutrality repeal happening in America and wondered what the repercussions would be over here. Your episode went beyond Planet Money and other shows in its explanation. I think your way of explaining a subject is really accessible and obviously well researched. I noticed you didn’t have any reviews and just wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed the episodes I’ve listened to so far. A great show.
