Tantrum

Thom is a natural, JJ an impressive nerd, Mina an exotic jewel. The pod’s only flaw -mentioned by others - an unwillingness to venture out of its comfort zone of the top 6 teams most weeks the only weakness. Matt Laws’ sulky refusal to discuss Aston’s capitulation was a highlight this week

4 stars

I would recommend this podcast and enjoyed listening on my commute to work this year.

Positives
- Good balance of views and engaging challenge between presenters - on a lot of other podcasts I do detect a lot of pundits are 'waiting to talk' rather than listening to other's views. This is generally not the case here.
- Very well chaired by Thom - in addition to a nice light hearted style without over stepping into distracting comedy. Thom applies structure well whilst letting his guests speak and inputs also his own views. Being of a similar age I also happen to like the periodic mid to late 90's / 2000s references he often makes.

Areas to improve
- tactical analysis sometimes drifts into overly simplistic and genralised 'football manager' style observations that aren't always substantiated. Possibly given the shorter format of this pod. I used to like hearing JJ's favourite goals of the week from a tactical perspective, so it shows he does know what he's talking about, just need to ensure this is applied consistently.
- having a wider group of core guests and pundits would keep things fresh - most notably including some ex-pros too.
- I personally would either bring in some European features, or remove them entirely as a 2 minute summary at the end by mina, although eloquent, doesn't add value to the overall product.

Unless you support a top 6 team, avoid

I give it a 2 star because the journalists are knowledgeable of the game and have interesting points to raise about the top 6.

But if you support any team below the top 6, unless you’re having a stormer of a season like Wolves in 2018/19, you’ll likely get a single sentence about a team and then they move onto the next top 6 side.

This isn’t really produced for football fans but more for the top 6.
