Awestruck Podcast is a hero’s journey to the center of you.
Have you ever been awestruck? We were meant to live in this transformed state of attention, not just long for it or experience it rarely. It is the real. It is what makes you real. To be spellbound, captivated, filled with wonder, held in aesthetic arrest, awestruck.
It is in this state of wonder that we find our ability to find ourselves. To be real. And to accept real truth that transforms us into everything we long to be.
The Gift of Sacred Rebuke
Sacred rebuke is a divine wake-up call to a course of action we have taken that may please the surface ego but leaves the soul in distress. This is what the Bible refers to as sin - or in Greek, missing the mark. And when the outer, physical shell misses the mark of aligning with the true, inner self - the soul - the contortion produces malaise. We experience guilt. Shame. Angst. A sense of loss. And the rebuke is designed to help us find our way home. But we must accept it and not fight it. How?
No Two Ways About It
Contentment, it seems, comes when we remove the lenses of comparison and live fully in the present moment without longing for what isn't or lamenting what is. It comes when we release ourselves from the exhausting mental calculations and emotional ping-pong that accompany dualistic thinking.
Amen and Amen
Amazing symbols and metaphors and poetic devices culminate with this truth: Our first physical birth, is obviously necessary to live. But to really live, to transcend the ego and experience life to the fullest, we must go through a second birth. A spiritual birth. A birth centered in the soul.
Telos: How to Deal with Anger
The way to deal with anger - that which comes out of you from within and that which comes at you from without.
Goodbye Schadenfreude, Hello Mudita
Mudita is something we often don't consider seeking out because the ego believes it must seek only its own interests. The thought of seeking and relishing in the joy of others without getting something in return is incompressible to the ego.
But to the soul, mudita is necessita. Mudita is inevitable when the soul is open to allow divine love to flow in from above and out to another. Love is the source of all joy - whether experienced directly or vicariously.
Sacred longing. This is the hunger that fuels our quest. But for what, exactly? What are we hungry for?
We long to be whole. And in that wholeness we long for love. Acceptance. Security. Peace. Joy. Fulfillment. Communion. Presence. Purity. And so forth. Through the lenses of the Information Age we attempt to reduce sacred longing into what we might call its constituent parts. And this is where we get into trouble.
