    An exhibition of finely detailed allegorical paintings, drawings and prints by Lucia Pedri opened at the Galleria Comunale in Barga Vecchia this afternoon.

    We published a conversation with Lucia Pedri back in 2013 where she talks about some of the reasons behind why she makes her work and although it was at another exhibition of her work in Castelnuovo and was recorded more than 5 years agouti is still very relevant to understand her working methods today.

    In May of this year, Riccarda Bernacchi and Lucia Morelli wrote as their introduction (article here) to the presentation of the new menu at the Locanda di Mezzo – a menu should tease the senses, especially smell and taste. however, when artworks and artistic photographs of mouthwatering dishes are added, sight becomes involved as well, as do the hearts and souls of viewer and creator.
    The menu at la locanda di mezzo is an artist’s menu, reminiscent of the artist’s book, a genre with techniques in its own right as first propounded by william Blake between the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries. as if there were a common thread binding the countries across the channel with Barga, four artists – Fabrizio Da Prato, Giorgia Madiai, Keane, and Stefano Tommasi – are enhancing a sophisticated oenogastronomic search through their art.
    The new menu is printed in different copies, each containing a unique creation born from the imagination of the artists and the chef.
    In that article it was also written that “Art is everywhere at la locanda, seducing the public from the cellars to the lavatory and in the dining room and Giorgia Madiai who is also the curator intends to promote this undertaking with other artists as well.
    This morning precisely that took place with the presentation on the new winter menu prepared by the chefs, Francesco Piacentini & Lorenzo Boschi from the Locanda, this time with work from Nicola Salotti.

    The very successful bed and breakfast establishment Casa Fontana run by Ron and Susi Gauld in Barga Vecchia celebrated the end of their summer season this evening with a party in the gardens of the house for many of their friends here in Barga.
    As you can hear in the short interview below with Ron, it has been a good solid season which although started late with some wet weather early on then developed into a great 2018 and bookings are already coming in for 2019.
    The main star of the party was once again without a doubt, the traditional pig roast.
