    17 - Reflections on podcasting

    17 - Reflections on podcasting

Indulgent, navel-gazing, incoherent: It must be Ross Garner's final appearance as host of the Bottle of Red podcast.

In this final episode of Series 2, Ross reflects on his time with the show before passing the torch to Justin Lee Anderson and Ross Dickie.

Series 3 will (probably) launch next year.

    Thanks for all the memories.

    13 - Is sex still a taboo?

    13 - Is sex still a taboo?

No sex please, we're Scottish. This week on Bottle of Red, author Jonathan Whitelaw joins Ross Dickie and Ross Garner to discuss sex in fiction. Does a graphic sex scene have to be erotic? Or do stories suffer because writers shy away from being honest in the bedroom? We'll be talking sexposition in Game of Thrones, feeble foreplay in Wuthering Heights, and darkly comic masturbation in Jonathan's debut novel Morbid Relations.

Interesting and good fun

The podcast is about people who work in creative jobs. “Podfather” Ross sits down with a guest and a “bottle of red” - what we get is the fruits of their discussion. Each episode has good production, continuity and pacing. But, more importantly, I enjoy spending time with Ross and his guests! Love it.

Very Interesting

Having listened to the first 6 podcasts now and I can wholly recommend this podcast. The 4 star rating perhaps was closer to 3 stars on the strength of the earlier episodes but the quality of the product has increased as the weeks have gone by and I am confident in asserting that I expect the quality to increase further and I shall continue to subscribe and look forward to future episodes arriving.

The interviewer has become more confident and assertive in his questioning, perhaps his questions were slightly overly long in the early episodes as he struggled to pin down what exactly he was seeking from the guest(s) but he has always been an engaging and welcoming presence.

You feel welcomed into his conversation with the guests, who are clearly at ease. The focus each week or a different aspect of the creative process is a compelling and strong focus that has allowed a strong structure and narrative to develop.

The editing is very well done, the length of podcast complements the editing, leading you wanting more and never outstaying its welcome.

Very well done and excellent quality.

Fascinating insight into creative media

I've listened to the first three episodes of this new podcast and I've really enjoyed the relaxed conversational style combined with a fascinating insight into creative media. I'm already looking forward to next week's episode which is a sign I've found a new podcast to asked to my subscription list.
