    KEY TAKEAWAYS

The easiest person to lie to is yourself so when you’re making a significant decision you have to be brutally honest.
When you're making a big change just be careful of the naysayers. Make sure you’re surrounded by the right people.
Be yourself, Everyone else is taken.
Life is an inside job - look after your mental health and your physical health to be the best you you can be to realise your full potential
If you’re driven and have a clear purpose and aren’t afraid of the hard work, whatever your background, there’s a world out there for the taking.

    BEST MOMENTS

    ‘Work hard, play hard!’

‘What do you really want that’s true to you? If you can get that out of your head and down on paper. Even if it’s a jumble and it’s literally thinking about everything you want, it helps you then to start to get clarity.’

‘I have my year plan; I have my twelve week year. For me, what gets measured gets done.’

‘ I’m here to make a difference to other people so it’s a wider legacy for me.’

    ABOUT THE SHOW

People with purpose make a difference. Imagine a world where more people can just get their purpose out of them, into a plan and then actually make it happen. What a world that would be - People everywhere finding meaning and harnessing that to bring inspiration and energy to each and every day, changing lives for the better. But no-one ever achieved anything on their own - we all have something unique to bring and that means we all have to play our part - if we want to go far we have to go together and lead or serve towards a vision of the world we want to see. Everyone has a story to tell and this show is where these stories come to life.

How to Turn Your Accent Into Your Superpower

How to Turn Your Accent Into Your Superpower

In this episode, Jeannette talks about turning your accent into your superpower. She explains how, at one stage, she felt self-conscious about her own accent and how she came to understand that having a distinctive accent was in fact an advantage. Something she could leverage and benefit from, which is exactly what you can do with your own accent using the tips Jeannette shares.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Regardless of what you do people are going to judge you because of your accent.
You can´t stop people from judging you. However, you can decide whether you are going to let what they may be thinking hold you back.
An accent is one way to stand out from the crowd.
Never be afraid to be yourself.
Be proud of where you are from, and your background. It is part of what makes you unique and therefore valuable.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘You are going to be judged anyway regardless, so when it comes to accent, it's time to embrace it. ´

‘If you change your approach and say, no, actually, I'm proud of where I'm from, I'm proud of my background, I am who I am, then straight away, you are immediately on a winning track.’

Ian Price CBI Director Wales - The Bridge Between Business & Government

Ian Price CBI Director Wales - The Bridge Between Business & Government

For this episode, Jeannette is joined by Ian Price, who is the director of the Confederation of British Industry here in Wales. They talk about all things business. Including starting companies, scaling them and how the CBI can help. As well as discussing some of the trends and pressures that many people are feeling at the moment.

Ian also talks about his career journey. He also explains what the CBI does, in particular, how they lobby on behalf of businesses. As well as discussing diversity, levelling up, hybrid working, mental health and more subjects that impact business owners, with Jeannette.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Honesty is important in business. If you are not honest about things, you never uncover problems and deal with them effectively.
The CBI lobbies parliament and helps them to understand the impact their regulatory changes are likely to have. They act as a bridge between the two groups.
Most people unconsciously recruit people who look and sound like them. It is something every business needs to be aware of and actively combat.
In some areas, recruiting a diverse workforce is difficult because certain kinds of people are still not applying for certain jobs because they wrongly assume that they can’t do the work.
Changing attitudes at the primary school level is key to ensuring you get a diverse pool of candidates.
Having one mobile for work and one for your personal life helps you to switch off properly.
Take advantage of any grants, courses, workshops, and organisations that are there to help your business.
If you are honest, present your real self and treat people as you would like to be treated yourself others warm to you, and buy.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘I actually say, from all of my years in business, that the CBI has been a key part of engagement. ´

‘I think sometimes keeping your body healthy is as important as keeping your mind healthy.’

‘The zoom way of working is efficient but isn't always effective.’
