    HOW SOLOMON'S TEMPLE FORESHADOWS CHRIST LIVING IN US (1 Kings 6:16-20)

    The structural and ornamental details of the Temple prophetically foreshadow the believer’s great privilege of being in the true church, the spiritual temple of God. Let us note thee following points : 1. The most holy place of the Temple depicts God’s presence amongst His people, and prefigures the believer in Christ being indwell by the Holy Spirit. 2. The cedar-wood projections in the shape of sumptuous fruit and the blossoming flower shapes depict the believer’s new life in the power of the Spirit, and his ability to bear the fruits of the Spirit in all holiness of life. 3. The prevalence of pure gold depicts the riches beyond all comprehension possessed by every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.     A GOVERNMENT ABANDONS GOD'S TRUTH FOR POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY (1 Kings 12:25-33)

    Jeroboam, for political expediency, exalts his own wisdom above God’s revelation by introducing the false religious practices of other nations. He is thus bringing down God’s judgement upon the land. This is precisely the problem in our own time : people, including political leaders, think that they have a superior wisdom to God’s word. They think that new developments in society can supersede God’s eternal law, that the word of God is no longer relevant in a progressive, 'enlightened', liberal and modern society. So fallen man has this tendency to exalt his own wisdom above that of God's revealed truth. Society now thinks that it can defy the laws of God with impunity. It thinks, for example, that it can decree that Britain is no longer a Christian country, but has become instead a multi-faith society, thus asserting, contrary to the Bible, that the Lord Jesus Christ does not possess all pre-eminence. We are reminded of Proverbs 14:34, "Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people". Thank you for listening.     OPEN AIR GOSPEL MESSAGE - ALL MUST COME TO CHRIST FOR A NEW HEART

    Pastor Peter Simpson was recently uplifting the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in the centre of Redcar on the northeast coast of England, taking up his stand in one of the town's main shopping thoroughfares. He emphasised in his preaching the corrupted and unclean nature of all those without Christ, and that all therefore need a radical inward transformation, which only the Saviour can bring about. This is why He declared, "You must be born again" (John 3:7). May the Lord be pleased to use these words to stimulate many to serious heart-searching, that they might realise their inward corruption and their need to flee to the Saviour, to Him who alone can provide the remedy by implanting in those who come to Him new hearts and new life.     The enormous value of fervent, earnest prayer (Ephesians 6:18-20) True Christians are a praying people. We need to pray for our leaders, for God’s mercy upon the nation, for our persecuted brethren around the world, for our own daily needs, and we need to pray for God's anointing upon the preaching of the gospel, so that sinners might be saved. Men will come to the Saviour, only if the Holy Spirit draws them and convicts them of their sin. So how we must be praying that the Spirit might be pleased powerfully to work.     THE SHORTNESS OF LIFE AND THE URGENCY OF COMING TO CHRIST (Psalm 90, v9-12)

    Psalm 90:9-12 Man’s life is very short. We are mere mortals; we are mere dust. The pleasures of this life, no matter how well some might think themselves to be getting on, are soon gone. To state this is not pessimism; it is realism. In this psalm we are exhorted to number our days. To do so will enable us to apply our hearts unto wisdom. The wise man realises the brevity of life, and so makes his peace with God with all urgency. He sees the necessity of repenting of sin and of trusting in Christ for everlasting life. He who numbers his days, and who knows that the time is short, is the one who will live with Christ for ever more, and whose days will know no end. ********* Thank you for listening.     We welcome to the Britain's Only Hope the Gospel podcast a guest speaker, Dr. David Mackereth, and in this address he goes though various sections in the Acts of the Apostles to give us precious insights into how we should be preaching the gospel today. Dr. Mackereth is an active gospel preacher based in the English Midlands, and also regularly preaches at Speakers' Corner in central London. He further has an online ministry on Youtube. Dr Mackereth was dismissed from his post at the Department for Work and Pensions because he would not compromise on the truth of Scripture (not to mention the truth of biological science).     THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENT IN ALL HISTORY (Mark 14:32-42)

    Mark 14:32-42 The death of the Lord Jesus Christ is a judicial event of cosmic significance. As He hung upon the Cross, He was proclaiming His love for underserving sinful men, for He was bearing in His person the justice of God upon the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2), so that all might have opportunity to escape that justice in their own persons. The prophet Isaiah, foretelling our Lord’s sufferings, sums up the message for us : “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). However, until each individual repents of sin and trusts in Christ’s death as the only means of finding mercy, he or she remains in a state of condemnation, which leads on to an eternal punishment (see John 3:18 and Mark 9:45, where the Lord Jesus speaks of “hell … the fire that shall never be quenched”. In the Saviour’s sacrificial death we are presented with the vey heart and substance of the Christian gospel and can only declare with the hymn writer, “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all”.(Isaac Watts). ********* Thank you for listening.
