It's me, your friend Busy Philipps! My creative partner Caissie St. Onge & I love making things that we believe people need & will love & we’ve had so many plans. We had plans to do a TV show that would shake up late night! And we think it kinda did! For six months. We adored our genius, scrappy creative team at “Busy Tonight” as much as we loved our audience, so when we broke the news that we’d been canceled, we vowed to get back up & make even bigger plans to invent a whole new way of doing things in the entertainment biz, to reunite our beautiful staff & change the game for everyone! An entertainment Utopia! And we were so close, then...the world changed. Now those plans are, at the very least, on hold. So, we've shifted gears, like everyone has had to, & with our friend, comedian & former “Busy Tonight” writer, Shantira Jackson, we're just doing our best, taking it slow & talking to fascinating friends about how *they* are doing *their* best. They’ll tell us all about those times in their lives when a setback actually led to the right thing. Maybe it was a job that didn't pan out, but opened the door to an even more perfect one, or maybe it's how they studied for years to do the thing they thought was their calling, only to fall into something else that felt like kismet. The thing is, we want to share those moments because right now EVERYBODY is having one of those moments. Maybe we'll all learn something life-changing or maybe we'll just have a conversation where we break down in tears, then laugh at ourselves for crying. Whatever happens, we can assure you, Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best!
This week, the women are doing their best, but is this episode cursed? Busy is exhausted, Shantira is plagued by technical difficulties and Caissie’s just trying to be a good producer. Then, Shantira’s friend and colleague Dewayne Perkins discusses the early pivot that changed the course of his life and career.

This week, Busy is doing her best at not being the best, Caissie is excited about a new Twitter follower and everyone is thrilled to interview the writer and star of the highest grossing romantic comedy film of all time, Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos. But nobody is more thrilled than Shantira, who used to watch “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with her Grandma Louise on VHS. Then the group reflects on Thanksgiving and why Ben Affleck wore that tiny face mask the other day.

This week, Busy, Shantira & Caissie are breathing a sigh of relief over the election. They discuss how a certain “religion” tries to trick you by looking fun, plus they have a magical announcement! And comedian and pandemic Instagram star Jordan Firstman tells all about how his life falling apart led him to an idea that made Ariana Grande his biggest fan. Then they all talk about drugs.
Busy, Shantira & Caissie were up all night like the rest of you, glued to the election returns. Even though they’re exhausted & maybe a little hungover & still don’t know the results, they’re sharing how they’ve been doing their best trying to survive election day & beyond. They discuss what is giving them hope, what is breaking their hearts & how they plan to move forward.
This week, Busy’s made a huge life decision but is maybe not doing her best when it comes to contractual matters. Shantira’s scheduled her surgery & Caissie apologizes for spilling the beans about something that maybe didn’t even happen? Then late night TV genius Merrill Markoe talks about her life & career pivots, including her creative & romantic partnership with David Letterman, as well as her new book “We Saw Scenery.” Plus, advice for a forlorn listener!

An essential listen for weekly healing
Honestly I look forward to listening to this podcast every single week.
I find the candid discussion and little sparks of hope to be so powerful and instrumental to healing.
Busy, Caissie and Shantira hold space for listeners so beautifully, I feel like each episode is a permission slip for everyone to be loving and gentle with themselves, especially during this year.
We can do hard things!! This podcast is a celebration of life to me. Thankyou for creating! 💜
Love this pod
Refreshing to listen to these three women’s insights and relate to our common crisis of the moment. I knew I would like it but I really love it and the guests are the icing on the cake - so good! I would listen though even if there were no guests. 🙌🏼
I absolutely love listening to Busy’s podcast along with her awesome cohosts
