E.38 James Collier; Co-Founder of HUEL and Qualified Nutritionist Catch Ups In My Kitchen

    • Nutrition

James Collier; Co-Founder and Head of Sustainable Nutrition at HUEL.
HUEL is a revolutionary product which has been consumed by 200 million globally, it is a complete meal source with every product being nutritionally complete.  With James's background and extensive career in nutrition he formulated the product that we all consume today.

James's career has ranged from many different disciplines within the nutritional field. He started working as a clinical nutritionist for the National Health Service focusing on a wide range of areas from weight loss and intolerances, to then focusing on the critically ill such as those who have had jaw surgery or are battling with cancer. James then specialised in enteral tube feeding which is when patients can only get food from a tube that goes directly to their stomach, therefore James would make sure they had the correct nutrition that they needed.

From working for the NHS James then diversified into the Muscle and Body Building Industry where he started a forum called Muscle Talk.

Then in 2014 he was contacted by Julian Hearn who presented him the idea of this nutritionally complete food source which would be Human Fuel, hence the name HUEL. James with his credited background then formulated the product we know today!

Not only has James got a highly credited career in Nutrition but it is also his passion and so I was so excited to be able to sit down with him to discuss not only HUEL but also Nutrition.

Topics we discussed:
- HUEL
- The evolution of the HUEL products
- One size fits all within food
- Processed Food
- Ingredients and consuming ingredients we don't know the definition of
- Drinking your calories V Eating your calories
- Social Media as a source for nutritional knowledge
- Satiety within food
- Sustainability
- Plant-based
- James's diet
