Mortgage Podcast "The Mortgage Show" - Locked down with the lenders 2

Mortgage Podcast "The Mortgage Show" - Locked down with the lenders 2

Mortgage Podcast, “The Mortgage Show” is back for the second “lockdown with the lenders” edition with another informative and entertaining discussion on the mortgage and lending market.

This time Andrew “Monty” Montlake is joined by another two very well-known characters of the lender world; Director of Mortgage Distribution at Metro Bank (UK), Charlie Morley and Managing Director Mortgages at Vida Homeloans, and the first female Chairman of IMLA, (The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association), Louisa Sedgwick.

This time we cover a whole host of topics including how Challenger banks and non-bank lenders are facing the current pandemic, why some lenders are not lending at all and ask whether the FCA and Government are doing enough.

We look at the current underwriting regimes and the challenges posed, why does it feel harder to get applications through and why 90% LTV lending is stifled.

All this plus what IMLA has been doing, the relationship between brokers, lenders and consumers, what the rest of the year looks like, why broker share of the market could increase, a smattering of economics and find out what Charlie would be doing if not in the industry.

Fun, frolics and a whole host of important and interesting discussion points. What better way to spend half an hour!

Mortgage Podcast "The Mortgage Show"- Locked down with the lenders

Property & Mortgage Podcast, “The Mortgage Show” is back for a "lockdown" edition with another informative and entertaining discussion on the mortgage and lending market.

This time Andrew “Monty” Montlake is joined by the Group Sales Director of One Savings Bank, Adrian Moloney, and Accord’s Director of Intermediary Distribution, Jeremy Duncombe.

We look at how our guests and the lenders they work for have been dealing with the lockdown and, in the midst of Mental Health Awareness week, how they are keeping their own team's spirits up, "Draw your manager" anyone?

We discuss the changes to lenders processes that have come out of this period, the adoption of certain technology, and the new criteria that are having to be adapted in the current situation.

We also look at the challenges around "Payment Holidays", mortgage valuations, communication, how the buy to let market looks now and how the rest of the year looks from a lending point of view.

All this plus a little bit of football chat!

Property Podcast "The Property Show" - The Lockdown Edition

Property Podcast "The Property Show" - The Lockdown Edition

Property Podcast, “The Property Show” is back for a "lockdown" edition with another entertaining discussion on the housing, property and mortgage market.

This time Andrew “Monty” Montlake is joined by Property Show regular, Ed Mead. Ed is a property legend who worked with Douglas & Gordon for many years and is now founder of Proptech firm Viewber.

Joining them is Louisa Fletcher, an accomplished property expert with over twenty years' professional experience in the industry, as well as being a journalist, author and broadcaster

As well as finding out how our guests are dealing with "lockdown", the main topic of conversation is, of course, the current environment and what effect all of this is having on the property market. What does this mean for estate agency, furloughed staff, brokers, buyers, and vendors and has this fundamentally changed the buying process for years to come?

We also deal with questions such as, are we all going to move out of big cities, will technology finally have to live up to its promise and how are we all going to get back to work quickly and most importantly, safely?

House prices, whether or not there should be more Government stimulus and what consumers are worried about most, also get looked at.

Mortgage Prisoners - The Mortgage Show Podcast Special Edition

Mortgage Prisoners - The Mortgage Show Podcast Special Edition

"Mortgage Prisoners" is a relatively new term that has caused much debate in the industry, now reaching the levels of Government and the FCA.

The Mortgage Show Podcast is back with a special extended edition as Monty takes an in-depth look into this subject with the help of someone who knows these issues all too well and represents many of those affected, Rachel Neale from UK Mortgage Prisoners (@UKmortgageprison).

The subject of Mortgage Prisoners, apart from being very important to all of us in the mortgage market, is something that can be very emotive and has caused issues and hardship for many people over the last few years since the credit crises.

In a very frank and open discussion, we will tackle the question of what is a Mortgage Prisoner, who is to blame for this issue and what can be done about it. We also consider the mental health aspects of those affected and ask why books of mortgage borrowers were allowed to be sold to unregulated or non-lending institutions?

Is all of this simply part of the unintended consequences of a change in regulation trying to make sure we don’t repeat mistakes of the past, or was it an accident waiting to happen because of consumers borrowing above their means?

Monty & Rachel also discuss the role of consumers, advisers, the FCA and Government and take some excellent listener questions from Twitter.
