Episode 24: Steve Folland and Being Freelance

After chatting with Steve Folland on his podcast, Being Freelance, last year I knew I wanted to get him onto Creative Playdate. If anyone is mastering the art of freelancing while parenting, Steve is. Steve started working freelance full-time when his children were young. We talk about Steve's work and how he managed to take off the entire month of August, while his kids were on vacation from school and how sometimes saying no is the best thing for YOU, not just your business.

A godsend!

This podcast is a godsend. It is comforting, inspiring, and such a treasure trove of insight of what it's like to be a creative professional who have kids. Props to Michelle Kondrich for taking the initiative to create this. She's given women who are mothers and men who are fathers a much-needed visibility in this industry, fighting the myth that once you have kids, you are no longer 'cool', or you are no longer serious about your career. The questions are insightful and sensitive, the delivery is excellent, the guests are all articulate and candid. Definitely one of the best podcasts out there, a great listen even if you don't have children!

Great idea, brilliant listen.

I listened to the first two episodes and this is a such a refreshing podcast. It's great to hear from creative, working parents about juggling career and family. Looking forward to more episodes.
