    John Hodge is a writer, best known for his screen adaptation of Transporting from Irvine Welsh’s novel. Initially following his family’s passion, he studied medicine at University of Edinburgh but in this episode he lets us know how he segued into writing.

    He discusses his work and the professional relationship he has with Danny Boyle who directs most of his screenplays. In 2022 he made his first foray into television with a spy thriller for ITV, The Ipcress File.

    Gary Young is a British screenwriter best known for writing Harry Brown starring Michael Caine. Gary started writing professionally over twenty years ago and has a number of award winning films and theatre productions to his name, and more recently he directed his first feature film, Two Graves which won Best Feature Film at the British Urban Film Festival.

    Andrea Osvart is an international multi-award-winning actress with over 50 acting credits starring opposite movie stars like Robert Redford, Clive Owen, Bruno Ganz, J.K. Simmons, Mattias Schweighöfer, or Heino Ferch. She has also produced feature films sold to Netflix and HBO.

    She has been on the rollercoaster of the entertainment industry for nearly 25 years now and has witnessed many talents not getting the success they’d deserve while others -less talented- obtain excellent and ongoing results.     Barnaby Kay - Actor

    Barnaby Kay was born into a theatrical family. His younger brother Adam is in the business, his grandfather, Arthur Kay, was a leading light in community theatre in Northumbria, and his father was the actor Richard Kay.

    Barnaby went to drama school but left before completing his course as his father's agent secured him an audition with the Royal Shakespeare Company, which he successfully passed, debuting with them in the play 'A Jovial Crew', and returning to work with them on several occasions.

    He has since worked in all media, including television roles in Doctor Who, Wallander, and Anatomy of a Scandal.

    Today, he sits down to talk with Crossing the Line all about his successful career which has stretched thirty years.

    Olissa began her career in casting in Germany, back in 2008, where she mainly worked as a Casting Director in TV, working with Constantin Entertainment.

    In 2016 Olissa met casting director Jeremy Zimmerman and worked as his Casting Assistant, working on several film projects with him. Since then Olissa has worked with highly respected casting directors. She was Casting Assistant to Kharmel Cochrane for commercials and TV/Film Projects, Casting Associate to Theo Park and until March 2020 she was working as Casting Associate for Amy Hubbard.

    Olissa is currently working as casting associate at Fiona Weir Casting. Some of her recent casting credits include ‘Ted Lasso’ (Apple TV), ‘Brassic’ (SKY), ‘We Are Who We Are’ (HBO) and Criminal UK (Netflix).

Fill Yer Brain Up!

This podcast is all the questions you wanted to ask but didn't know you did. Like how when you get sat next to someone really interesting at a party and can’t find the words?? These guys can! Such an excellent range of guests across the board. They really help actors build a exciting and detailed pictures of everyone’s job from writing to film certification. Highly recommend!
