Since then it has gone through many transformations, including becoming the podcast for a critical theory imprint out of the UK. Today the Diet Soap podcast is running under its original name for Sublation Media.Sublation Media includes a book publishing effort for critical theory and left politics, a magazine that covers current events and theoretical issues, youtube videos on theory and politics, and finally the Diet Soap podcast. The podcast is where we continue to interrogate the left and each other while having a good time.

Great Podcast

Diet Soap is a great podcast for those interested in the radical left. Full of interesting audio clips and collages, and replete with great in depth interviews on everything from Karl Marx to Karl Marx! More please...

Marxist podcast

Diet Soap is fiction author Douglas Lain’s unashamedly (and refreshingly) partisan Marxist podcast. Because the host’s idiosyncratic curiosities set the agenda, the interviews can initially seem somewhat eclectic and it is doubtful anyone will equally enjoy all the content. Some may elect to skip a psychoanalytic discussion on anxiety about death featuring excerpts from Wood Allen films. Others may be less interested in conversations with Andrew Kliman defending Marx's idea of a decline of the rate of profit against advocates of the neoliberal theory of capitalist hegemony. However, if any of the breadth of subjects has some pull than the relevant episodes will be a treat. There are certain topics that crop up repeatedly (e.g. the Situationist International, Hegelianism, Slavoj Žižek and aesthetics) and a few regular contributors: like the aforementioned Kliman, David Blacker and C Derick Varn. Generally these are the strongest episodes. As well as the new releases, the archive is worth browsing; especially the old pop the left pieces, which include informative elucidations of left history.

There are a number of pedagogic podcasts I like: History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps; From Alpha to Omega; In Our Time and The Partially Examined Life. None have engaged my attention as consistently as Diet Soap.
