    Too Much Alike

The last episode of this series has its emotional moments, as we look back at the whole of our Digging Deep journey up to this point, but we also end on a joyous musical note; a rockabilly classic covered by Robert Plant and Patti Griffin which includes the timeless lyric, “We're too much alike to like each other, like we used to do”.

Last Time I Saw Her (Remix)

On this episode Robert Plant and Matt Everitt dig deep into a track whose roots can be found on RP’s seventh solo album, 2002’s Dreamland. But we’re not dealing with the original, instead we're unearthing the rare remix of 'Last Time I Saw Her’. Enjoy!

Please Read The Letter By Robert Plant & Jimmy Page

Please Read The Letter By Robert Plant & Jimmy Page

This is a collaboration between Robert and Jimmy Page which resulted in a classic song that made its home on the 1997 Walking into Clarksdale album. But it then re-appeared a decade later on Raising Sand – and it would go on to win The Record of the Year Award at the 2009 Grammys. This tune has had quite the life thus far…

    Quattro

    Quattro

For the first time ever, Digging Deep features not one, but two musicians in conversation. We’ve wanted to do this since the series started back in May 2019, and the song both are discussing is Quattro, the opener from Robert and Alison Krauss’ recent album ‘Raise The Roof. Need any more hints about our mystery guest?

    All The Kings Horses

    All The Kings Horses

The track that Robert discusses in this episode is - by his own admission - one of the very best songs he’s ever written and sung. It's a hugely loved recording for many people, which makes this episode very special. From the 2005 Mighty ReArranger album, it’s the beautiful ‘All The King’s Horses’.

    Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp

We’re back with a new season (featuring some surprises) and start, maybe unexpectedly, with a song from Led Zeppelin III. A classic track written in a remote cottage in Wales which gave the song its famous title….

The Mighty Plant

These series of interviews are Stardust and Golden to paraphrase another great artist. Matt’s interview technique is so perfect. Robert and he come across almost like co-conspirators, as they unpack the history of the songs or the genesis of how they come together. The most enlightening thing for me is how many of them are cover versions. In these days of digital downloads we don’t always have sleeve notes to plough through.

I have come to a position these days were I just listen to Robert’s music. Unless he sings something that is obviously a cover, like “Bluebirds Over The Mountain” (Which I first heard Te Beach Boys cover in the seventies) I sometimes miss that Robert hasn’t written the song. This is mostly due to the way Robert does his own interpretation.

A short review would simply be, These podcasts are Robert Plant fan’s dream.

I just wish the episodes were longer.

I have loved RP FOREVER. Had his pic on my wall since I was 14.....Zeppelin my all time favourite band. So, biased. But, man! I could listen to him, on a loop, also forever. What an incredible man♥️
