E02 - Death Sentence or Life Imprisonment? What R U Gonna Do ?
-
- Society & Culture
In this second episode of What R U Gonna Do, Evya and Anaïs discuss the controversial subject of Death Penalty vs. Prison for Life.
While we're pondering on which crimes might actually warrant which sentence, we're also trying to understand - on a purely hypothetical basis - what seems like the "best" option from the point of view the sentenced individual, and also from the point of view of the individuals whose loved ones were harmed.
Not leaving any angle out, we're also exploring the dimension of sentencing individuals who are not guilty (or for whom evidence is not crystal clear) and reflecting on whether prison for life might be considered a fair enough punishment or a "cushy way out".
It's been a quite controversial conversation this time around and while the conclusion is not crystal clear, we still came up with some great movie recommendations we'd like to leave you with:
The Shawshank Redemption - Drama with Tim Robbins (IMDB's #1 Movie of all times)
The Green Mile - Drama with Tom Hanks
Life - A comedy with Eddie Murphy
Law Abiding Citizen - A thriller with Gerard Butler
The Devil Next Door (A fascinating Netflix docu-series relating to the trial of an alleged Holocaust perpetrator, 40 years after the event)
