    A few days before Ilya's 4th birthday, our breastfeeding journey together came to a close. It has been a month since and in today's podcast, I reflect on that transition, including a transition to stop nursing together at night (we co-sleep), and then a couple months later to stop nursing together entirely. I share about why I chose to make these shifts, what inspired them, how weaning has felt for me, and how I sense no longer "doing boob" has felt for Ilya.

    In this episode I share about my experiences with breastfeeding my child on demand for the past 3.5 years. I share about long-term, ie natural term or full-term breastfeeding, why I choose it, and my philosophies around breastfeeding in general.     It has taken me 34 years to learn what my child was born into this world knowing: how to eat intuitively. And honestly, I am so darn proud of myself! Coming from a lifetime of dieting and body image struggles, I didn’t think it was possible for me to have a loving relationship with my body and food. I am thrilled to be where I am today and I am excited to share my story with you.

    Over the last few years I’ve received a lot of curiosities about my diet and if it has changed. The answer is yes. It has changed many times in many ways. And I trust that it will continue to evolve, as I do. Many of you started following me during my 7 years of eating a strictly plant-based / vegan diet, which is no longer a diet I follow.     E28: Ilya's Bedtime Routines + The Importance of Routine for Kids

    Rituals root us. Having solid, consistent, nurturing routines that we perform every day creates the rhythms we need for healthy development. We thrive when we have that ideal balance of certainty and uncertainty, routine and spontaneity. Most beings seem to be off balance, needing more routine than they have set up for themselves. Their systems are craving more regularity, more trust, more stability. With a healthy framework, we can flow and play with confidence. 

    Developing and nurturing regular morning and evening routines that are simple and effective for you and your children helps ensure you will be set up to thrive. When our systems have a certain amount of reliability, they can relax. Consistency and relaxation is especially essential for young, developing beings, and as their caregivers, we are the ones setting the tone of the day. We are the ones whose nervous systems they are syncing up with, learning from, and mirroring. By creating calm, present, loving energetic environment, we can offer our children a nurturing space for co-regulation. 

    In this episode, I share about Ilya’s bedtime rituals, now at 3 years old. I also share more abut the importance of having bedtime routines, both for child and for your yourself.
