Britney Spears was under a conservatorship from 2008 to 2021 where all her financial and personal decisions had to be approved by her conservators, including her father, Jamie Spears. Britney earned hundreds of millions of dollars during that time, performing and touring extensively, while being deemed too impaired by the courts to be in control of her life. Britney is one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world, yet very little of the massive media coverage she generated focused on the conservatorship until the #FreeBritney movement grew within the last few years before the restrictive legal arrangement finally ended. Now that the conservatorship has been terminated, there are still an enormous amount of unanswered questions, including whether those responsible for the conservatorship will be held accountable for what Britney experienced during those 13+ years. Eat, Pray, Britney tries to draw attention to the restrictive constraints Britney was under during the conservatorship, as well as her current pursuit of justice, while also examining her life and career through a feminist lens.

I found a Gem

I am so happy to have found this gem of a podcast. I am a huge Britney fan and this has been a fantastic way to keep updated on all the going’s on in her life. When my mind is racing or I need a distraction it is so comforting to hear the hosts chatting. I think because they are old friends it adds to the comforting and nostalgic vibe. I love the look back episodes where you breakdown iconic past interviews, commercials etc. I can’t wait for the new episodes when you are back from break and of course the Book. Thank you for the excellent podcast!!!!

Wonderful women

Look, I really love Britney Spears, but is it ok to say I love Lisa and Jaclyn (hope I’ve spelt correctly?!) more? To be a fly on the wall to their conversations is such a highlight to my week! From the moment of their opening “Welcome to Eat, Pray, Britney.” “Hello, everyone”, I just feel myself relax, and brace myself for a treat. They are wonderfully insightful, interesting, intelligent, and opinionated, in the most life affirming and entertaining way. I’m not a hard core Britney fan. I’m more a sidelines observer, and only came across this podcast from listening to the BBC Sounds, ‘Pieces of Britney’ series (I’m in the UK). However, this podcast has really opened my eyes in a new and intriguing way to celebrity fandom, and I salute the hosts for the sensitive and balanced way they approach things. Thank you, Jacklyn and Lisa for adding this much needed balm to my life. Wishing you and the pod every success going forward. PS, I am sure Britney is aware of you (even if you dare not let yourselves believe it) x

Great podcast

I’m not proud to say I’m new to the #freeBritney movement. Hard listening at times and so unbelievable that this has happened to one of the most famous women in the world- imagine what is going on to people without a platform. Keep going girls x
