In this episode, I'm going to be talking about why writing a press release is good for your business. If you want to share the story of your business with the world, press release writing, believe it or not, might be the best way to start.

{00:43} The purpose of the press release is to generate publicity towards your product or service. It has the potential to deliver great results for any kind of business, no matter how big or small. However, sometimes it's hard to know what to expect during the process.
{01:31} I've had thousands of press releases land in my inbox, and I hate to say it, but a lot of them ended up being deleted.
{02:10} So the first point is it builds trust and authority. So for small and medium-sized businesses in particular, press releases can give valuable exposure.
{02:56} It's a vote of confidence from a reputable outside source that will encourage others to land on your website and perhaps even buy from you.
{03:14} Sending a press release to industry specific journalists can boost your exposure to your target audience.
{04:48} For example, I was working with a product-based business that got featured in Refinery29, which has a global reach of 249 million.
{05:52} When press releases are accepted and translated to media coverage, there is often a high opportunity for backlinks.
{06:31} So to conclude press release writing is crucial for getting your business out in the world while marketing strategies, such as social media content and email campaigns are beneficial for building customer communities, press releases expand your potential even further, building credibility behind your brand and importantly, driving traffic to your site.
