Ep. 029 Five Fabulous Ways To Boost Your Media Coverage

Cracking Content Podcast

Welcome to the Cracking Content podcast, helping entrepreneurs to amplify that expertise through storytelling, content and PR so they can get more sales and make a bigger impact. Every business has a story to tell, don't be afraid to tell it.

In this episode, I'm going to be talking about five fabulous ways to boost your media coverage. So, that amazing moment has come, your story has been picked up by the press. You are probably pinching yourself a little bit and wondering how you can get more people to consume this important bit of media coverage that you've achieved for your business. Receiving press coverage can take some time, and it takes a lot of hard work, but it is often only the first step in getting your message out into the world.

{01:20} One of the mistakes I see when entrepreneurs get media coverage is that they don't make the most of it. They might not share the link on their social channels enough. You don't have just to share it on the day that you get it; you can share it multiple times.

{01:48} So if you have a message and you want to share it with the world, the best place is to share it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and all the other channels available to you. Utilise hashtags to your advantage and even thank the journalist or platform who shared your story.

{02:11} Share it with people too. People love to share people's success. Sometimes we're so busy trying to promote ourselves online that we forget to tap into our internal network.

{02:30} You can even promote your content with clients too. Send it out in a newsletter. It will remind them why they chose to do business with you in the first place.

{02:46} Utilise the logo of the platform your coverage was featured on. Place it on your website or use it for promotional marketing materials. It can work well on a Facebook banner or a LinkedIn banner too. This is a great way to increase your credibility, especially if it is a well-known and reputable brand.

{03:19} So reference the coverage wherever you can. You've made it into the press, so make sure you talk about it. Add it to the news or blog section of your website to update your audience on your latest happenings or include it in your email newsletter.

{04:48} So, amplifying your media coverage is all about leveraging the platforms you're active on, talking to the people you know and using your past content to your advantage to generate more content. Sometimes all you need is a little personal touch and a whole lot of sharing, and you can get your message out there to an audience wider than its original platform and don't forget to keep on sharing that content.
