She was born and raised in Zambia and is a third generation Salvationist. Outside of her work, her research interests include African Christianity, Pentecosatal and Charismatic Christianity, diaspora missions, church and state relations and HIV/AIDS in Africa. She is the author of an academic book entitled Pentecostal and Charismatic Spiritualities and Civic Engagement in Zambia.
