Episode 14: Foraging with Dawn Lister, Daniel Groom and special guest Louise Hunt From The Heart, a podcast about Yoga, Mindfulness, Healing and Wellbeing

    • Mental Health

In this episode we speak to Louise Hunt, a lover of wild food, sustainability and nature.

Foraging for wild food has increased in popularity over recent years, perhaps as a result of the rising awareness of eating local, fresh and organic ingredients. Foraging generally refers to searching, identifying and collecting food resources in the wild, including herbs, plants, fruit, nuts and mushrooms. It’s all about cooking, preserving and eating healthy and nutritious food while understanding how to maintain the balance of our natural environment.

Louise began foraging for wild food a little over two years ago, foraging helped her to find peace and a connection to the outdoors. Louise has always loved the outdoors, and began growing her own vegetables in Spring 2020. Foraging has solidified her love of being around plants and nature.

Louise is currently a caseworker for young people at risk of exploitation in Southend-on-Sea, prior to that she was a 999 operator for the Metropolitan Police and a youth worker for many years. She is now embracing a career transition during the current pandemic and is exploring taking her career in a new direction with self-care at the forefront, whilst using foraging as a way to relax and find balance in what can sometimes be a chaotic world.
