Episode 3: Forest Bathing. With Ruth Mortimer, Dawn Lister and Daniel Groom From The Heart, a podcast about Yoga, Mindfulness, Healing and Wellbeing

    • Mental Health

Forest bathing is the practice of spending time in the forest for better health, happiness and a sense of calm. It literally means to bathe in the atmosphere of the forest, immersing your senses in your surroundings. Discovery, curiosity, awareness, openness, awe and joy. It's a slow sensory walk through the forest using mindfulness, meditation, breathing and walking exercises.

Join us in conversation with Ruth Mortimer, a Forest Bathing Practitioner, to discuss the practice as a way to reconnect with nature and to calm those feelings of stress. Research has proven that spending time around trees can reduce blood pressure, lower stress, boost energy and boost the immune system. Forest bathing is relaxing, connecting, stimulating, refreshing, immersing and awakening to our natural roots - we are all connected to nature!

Ruth Mortimer works as a Forest Bathing guide in Essex, and has been working with organizations such as Essex Wildlife Trust, the National Trust, Essex County Council, Mind and the NHS. Her own personal journey of healing from a critical illness lead her to this work, and has been very much informed by the people she met along the way whilst working on her own recovery and understanding.
