Event Horizon (1997‪)‬ Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

    • Film Reviews

Shat The Movies loves a good horror movie, and all three hosts were thrilled when listener Robert in Germany commissioned "Event Horizon." This 1997 space freak-out film combined sci-fi and infernal themes with performances from Sam Neill and Laurence Fishburne, leaving the entire Shat Crew changed.
In this episode, Big D points out filmmakers were entirely too optimistic on Earthlings' space-faring timeline. Gene accuses "Event Horizon" of being an "Alien" ripoff, and Ash cheers the concept of a haunted house in space.
Remember the paper-and-pencil demo of how to fold space-time? The Latin recording with the cannibal orgy? Who could forget! And the jump scares are top-notch, even if a few are a little forced.
"Event Horizon" was a landmark film for so many of us '80s and '90s kids, but does it still hold its place among the spooky greats? Listen and find out.
