Hello and welcome to Field Notes, the podcast where each week we take a long form sound recording in nature and just let it play. 🌾🍃🍂🍁 It's the evening and we’ve come out to sit on the bench in the Orchard. 🌿 The wind is rustling through the trees and we can hear the muted sounds from the farmhouse nearby; people milling about in the kitchen, getting dinner ready, tidying up from the day. 🥘 🍽

Up here at the very top few people venture, so there’s the passing sound of gallery assistants setting up for the day, the escalators whirring away and other people like us, sat on the row of chairs, watching the world go by. 🚶‍♀🚶

Welcome to series 2 of Field Notes. Each week we take a long form recording in nature and just let it play. 🌾🍃🍂🍁 Its midnight and you’re booked onto the overnight train from Penzance to London Paddington 🚂 . You’ve got your own cabin and after a drink in the lounge car you’ve come back to the room to get ready for bed. 🛏 Through the night the train rocks back and forth and the sound of the tracks and the rumble of the train through the landscape lulling you to sleep. 🚞

Hello and welcome to Field Notes, It's autumn and the afternoon sun is low in the sky. 🌤 The waves at Porthleven beach are crashing up the sandy bank and we’re walking down by the waves, making our way slowly across the sand, the wet sand crunching under foot and the noice of the waves to our right. 🌊 Once we’ve made it to the steps we climb up onto the high storm breakwalls with the village perched on the cliffs behind us. The sun is in front of us and we sunbathe here, wrapped up in our coats to stop the wind, faces poking out, enjoying the last heat of the sun. 🍁 ☀

Hello and welcome to Field Notes, where each week we take a recording from nature and just let it play. 🌾🍃🍂🍁 We’re in Venice and its November. We’ve taken a stroll around the fondamente at the very north of the city. It's getting dark and the pavements are lit by lines of street lights. As we walk along the water sloshes against the sides of the canals, and boats chug along; locals heading home after work as well as the sounds of the workings of the city; ambulance boats and goods being loaded and unloaded from the water. 🚣‍♂

Hello and welcome to Field Notes, It’s the depths of December and the weak winter sun is setting early at around 4pm. 🌥 The garden is slowing growing greyer as the light fades into darkness. 🌒 We’re all wrapped up in our thickest coat, and have come outside to sit under the beech tree. 🌳 The wind is rusting the trees in the valley below until the sound becomes almost a single noise. The branches of the bare trees above creak in the gusts and crisp leaves rustle and twirl along the ground. 🍁 Listen carefully and you’ll hear the squeak of nocturnal creatures making the most of the cover of the night ⭐.
