OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS - Episode 98
Generally, when I talk about opening and closing doors I am talking in terms of taking on too many things. As discussed in the last show you need to ruthlessly prioritize what you are getting yourself into and the best way to do that is to always be prepared to turn down what at first may appear to be an opportunity.

FOCUS ON THREE THINGS - Episode 97
In this episode I’m backing a simple productivity concept - that focusing on no more than 3 things over a given period of time, not at the same time, but over a given period, could change everything for you. It may be more completely stated as "Focus on three things, ignore the rest."

BATCHING - Episode 95
Batching is simply the act of grouping tasks together, so you do them all at once, instead of switching between tasks that take place in areas.

GOOD FAST CHEAP - Episode 94
Today’s episode highlights a simple rule that can be applied to virtually any project that we set out to do. It’s known in business terms as The Project Management Triangle but that uses the terms “cost,” “schedule,” and “scope”. In effect, it comes down to the same thing. You get what you pay for.

CREATIVITY ON DEMAND - Episode 93
Making something from nothing, or quickly solving a creative problem that comes up to bite you or your project in the ass is sometimes a really hard thing to do. Like catching lightning in a bottle, creativity on demand is simply not always easy.

Like Blinkist for whole productivity strands
I’ve been following this podcast for a good while now and it’s really found it’s feet.
It’s not just for film people, but I think for anyone that is looking for hints, tips and strategies for life in generally to feel more focussed, in control and happier.
There are loads of bits I’ve picked up from what I’ve heard on it over the last couple of years that have helped me get better organised, and gain more of a sense of control at work. Many of these are now well imbedded in my daily life. There was also some great stuff at the start of the pandemic on stress, anxiety and pivoting to survive and make the most of the situation.
Most episodes take a productivity topic or strategy and break it down, with lots of detail from a huge range of sources. There is a lot of detail and research compared to some other shorter, more glib positivity self help podcasts. Here there are real world strategies, explored in some depth, with lots of great examples of how to actually apply some of the techniques.
Lately there have also been some really fascinating interviews with other productivity junkies that have some fascinating fresh perspectives.
Carter is also very listenable to and pretty frank and open about his own challenges in the past and how he’s used a lot if these techniques to manage them.
Well worth a listen for anyone interested in getting a greater sense of control in their lives, or just looking for productivity tips and signposts to other great podcasts and authors on the same subject.
Dive in to whatever episode sounds interesting to you and take it from there.
Informative and thought provoking
This one is a great addition to your regular podcast listening. The information and tone is spot on and it’s all delivered in a great manner. It’s filled with cracking tips and insights too help you progress in life and achieve more.
Informative & Reassuring
I enjoy listening to Carter’s show every week. I have had my own struggles in the film industry and it is reassuring to hear other people’s experiences and solutions. If anything just to reassure my own confidence that I am not the only one out there coming face to face with such unbelievable hurdles. I suspect this show helps many a creative get back up when they are down. Keep at it.
