Some call it Hurricane Katrina. Some call it the Federal Flood. Others call it the day the levees broke. On August 29, 2005, the city of New Orleans was submerged. That story of hubris, incompetence, and nature's wrath is now etched into the national consciousness. But the people who lived through the flood and its aftermath have a different story to tell. A story of rumors, betrayal, and one of the most misunderstood events in American history. Hosted by Vann R. Newkirk II.

Excellent journalism and storytelling

This is such a superbly produced series, every second serves a purpose, nothing is too long - rare in series these days- the journalism, humanity and storytelling is 10/10. Very moving and just fascinating- I defo didn’t know about Katrina like I thought I did- this series is eye-opening

Brilliant

What brilliant, powerful piece of journalism and storytelling! I had no idea about the details and aftermath of the hurricane. Thanks to all the local people who so generously shared their stories and experiences.

Moving and shocking

I can’t believe I didn’t realise or even think to question. This was a really compelling (journalism and presenting) and disturbing (major fake news I have believed for many years) podcast. Thank you for making this posdcast and breaking the fake news. Love to Lianne and thank you for sharing your story.
