In 2007, The Football Ramble was born out of Luke Moore, Pete Donaldson, Marcus Speller and Jim Campbell’s passion for the most popular sport in the world—as well as a shared inability to take themselves too seriously. Since then, the boys have come a very long way: from a best-selling book to sold out live shows.

Now, joined by Jules Breach, Kate Mason, Andy Brassell and Vithushan Ehantharajah, the Football Ramble brings you daily episodes of equal parts insight and hilarity. All this and more, Monday through Friday. Lend us your ears and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest stories from the Premier League and all around Europe, all with an eye for both the sublime and the ridiculous.

Fans to return to stadiums, Wolves peg back Southampton, and welcome to the Bulgarian Army!

Football fans: welcome back to your happy place! Alan Pardew: welcome to the army!

Jules, Jim and Luke are here to celebrate the scheduled return of (some) football fans to stadiums and the prospect of some normality. It was certainly back to normality for Burnley last night, as they ground out a win in a 1-0 classic, while the 80s detectives derby saw Theo Walcott bag a goal for Southampton.

Elsewhere, a 9-year-old applies for the Derby job yet is somehow still more qualified than Pards, and Neil Warnock has been headhunted for I’m A Celebrity. Please make it happen. Join us!

A José Mourinho vintage, Leicester headbutt their ceiling, and Danny Welbeck rolls back the years

A José Mourinho vintage, Leicester headbutt their ceiling, and Danny Welbeck rolls back the years

If the international break was a scary, alien concept fraught with uncertainty, then this weekend’s Premier League action was like putting on your favourite jumper. Snuggle in with Marcus, Pete and Vish as we mull it all over on today’s episode of the Football Ramble!

A vintage José Mourinho performance - on the touchline and in subsequent interviews - helped Spurs to an important win over Man City. Elsewhere, Liverpool looked like their rabid old selves against Leicester and Danny Welbeck made us all feel safe again with his delightful goal for Brighton – assisted by fellow England throwback, Adam Lallana. Lovely stuff!

England put Iceland to the sword, Wales take their seat at the top table, and how to greet Sir Alex Ferguson

England put Iceland to the sword, Wales take their seat at the top table, and how to greet Sir Alex Ferguson

That was more like it, wasn’t it? England cruise past Iceland as Phil Foden and Jack Grealish turn on the style. Not that Jules, Vish and Jim allow themselves to get carried away, of course.

Elsewhere, Wales secure a dream promotion to the top tier of the Nations League and Kieffer Moore looks really happy about it, while Scotland go down to Israel but will definitely still boogie on. Plus, we learn how Andrei Kanchelskis greeted a certain Scotsman at Manchester United in the worst - or best? - way possible. Join us!

Spain batter Germany, Antonio Conte’s got the secret, and content king Ben Foster

Spain batter Germany, Antonio Conte’s got the secret, and content king Ben Foster

The Nations League just keeps throwing us curves, as Spain inadvertently hit Germany for six while out for an evening stroll. Join Kate, Vish and Pete for an equally quaint saunter through the latest footballing nonsense on today’s episode of the Football Ramble!

Away from the Nations League, we hear of Antonio Conte’s astute predictions while he was Chelsea manager and take a tour through Liverpool’s creepy new training ground. There’s also time for Ben Foster’s latest online venture, as his lovely YouTube videos have been met with a measured mix of delight and tentative questions around broadcast rights…

Managerial moves in the Championship, a Faroe Islands handball update, and José Mourinho loves the international break

Managerial moves in the Championship, a Faroe Islands handball update, and José Mourinho loves the international break

This little gap in football's relentless onslaught means Marcus, Luke and Pete have time to talk about some managerial changes in the Championship, as two legends at each end of the managerial spectrum take up new roles. Wayne Rooney stepped up at Derby for the time being, while Tony Pulis began his 11th managerial stint after taking the Sheffield Wednesday job!

Elsewhere, we check in with José Mourinho after an international break jam-packed with fun and frivolity. We also hear the tale of ‘The Google Striker’, catch up with Wrexham’s potential new owners and dial in for our regularly scheduled update from the Faroe Islands handball scene.

Love it

My favourite for many years. Keeps getting better

Shame. Unsubscribed after yrs

Listened for years. Pelaty. Keegan. The hall of fame. But alas it’s over for me. Things change. The beginning of the end was when the music changed culminating in this mess. Been to Ramble live, It was good times but it’s over. Like finding Giggs leaving out back door of your house, things are damaged beyond repair.

Non-Target Demographic ,

Becoming bland and mainstream

Last year's format worked on a basis of two things. One was that each day was essentially a different topic or strand of football the other was that on 3 of the 5 days there was guaranteed different personnel. What this meant was that if news happened on the Tuesday if it affected the EFL or PL it would be addressed on the Friday. If it was Europe it could be addressed on the Thursday. It meant that it was not entirely reliant on there being something that day.

The new format basically has no structure in the same way. You don't get a few days without a general discussion so news doesn't have time to build up. As much football as there is right now some of it is beyond the hosts knowledge (most international) or some days there just isn't that much of note happening so discussion is bare.

It means that you get shows that feel empty or padded in comparison to the old ones. In the past they would barely be able to discuss all the things they could discuss. This resulted in a more well rounded show. Now you have them looking for things to discuss.
