NINA POWER - What Do Men Want And Does This Reflect What We Are All Being Told?

NINA POWER - What Do Men Want And Does This Reflect What We Are All Being Told?

On todays episode I am joined by writer, philosopher plus Senior Editor of the new magazine Compact, along with author of the book What Do Men Want? Nina Power.

Never before has the the spotlight been on men in the way it currently is. What we do, what we don't do, how we behave. A picture is being painted about how the average man acts and thinks but does this ring true with reality? What do men have to say about this? I discuss with Nina just where we go from here and what the future holds for relations between men and women.

    We delve into:

How Nina was inspired to write the book because of the growing divisions in society between men and women that didn't ring true with her reality.
The way in which contemporary feminism isn't anything like the feminism she grew up with in the 90's.
Why people are encouraged to put labels on men right now and how the fear around men isn't based in reality.
The feminisation of society into a 'mean girls' environment where traditional masculine things are scoffed at.
How men and women can live together harmoniously and move away from the infantilised culture that has taken hold.

More importantly he also realises that it can be a prime opportunity to really reassess your life, where it is going and make some changes which may be long overdue.

How Steve had to relocate and undergo a complete career change in the years following his divorce to reach a point where he now helps others going through the same ordeal
The effective tactical strategies you can employ to ensure you come away with the best result.
How shifting your mindset to one of empowerment and ownership can radically change your prospects of seeing your children and moving on from divorce in the years after.
Why the courts and solicitors are not as scary as you think and the simple steps to take to ensure you show up as the dad the court want's to see.
The importance of forgetting what you want and prioritising what's in the best interests of your children.

ANTHONY MIGLIORINO - The Peaceful Way to Father Your Children

ANTHONY MIGLIORINO - The Peaceful Way to Father Your Children

Today I am joined by mentor, parenting blogger and coach along with founder of Peaceful Fathers - Anthony Migliorino.
There has over the last few decades been seismic shifts in just how we parent our children, leading some of us to question whether the way we were taught is actually the right way. Caught between being to liberal on the one hand and overly authoritarian on the other parents are beginning to ask if there is another way.
On my conversation with Anthony we delve into:
How he discovered peaceful parenting 20 years ago and why the non-aggression principle revolutionised his parenting. The differences between authoritative parenting and permissive parenting and why both of these types of parenting are abusive in different ways. Why using fear as a method of control means that when children grow into adulthood this will be normalised as a way others can influence their behaviour. They hypocrisy around parents telling children not to hit and how they then go to use violence as a means to compliance. Why focussing on what you kids to right rather than criticising and nit picking all the time grows their confidence.

ZAC SMALL - The Power of Digital Brotherhood in the Modern World

ZAC SMALL - The Power of Digital Brotherhood in the Modern World

My guest today is author, Veteran, and Co Founder of the private Men’s group the Fraternity of Excellence creator of The Family Alpha blog, an co-host of the Oak and Rock Fatherhood Show - Zac Small

Dads now can connect more easily online than ever before, yet many are still isolated, depressed and detached than ever before. However there are a growing crop of men who are unifying men together in online and offline communities more than ever before, at the same time as galvanising them into brotherhoods which are creating better, more capable and present fathers.

In my conversation with Zac we discuss:

The choice we have over what aspects of our own dads we want to retain or reject
How we are the first generation to have one foot in the pre and post digital era's and why this impacts being a father
Why society seems to want to disempower men right now rather than empowering them
How life is short and we need to appreciate the present moment and the fact we might not be here tomorrow
The challenge of how to engage men's problems as men naturally do, rather than approaching men as broken women.

GERAINT JONES: Inside The Mind of A Writers Calling

GERAINT JONES: Inside The Mind of A Writers Calling

Today I talk about how we are called to things in life and what it requires of us. My guest today is bestselling author and host of the Veteran State of Mind Podcast, along with Iraq and Afghanistan Vet - Geraint Jones

There is an old saying along the lines of "oh they were an overnight success" except what people don't often see is the many years before hand that it took to get to that point. Some of us are called to something from an early age and others find their calling later in life.

On todays episode Geraint and I discuss:

His childhood fascination with books being one of the last of the pre-digital generation.
The rituals he gets into so he can get into the writing zone daily.
Why being in Iraq and Afghanistan gave him a rich tapestry of life events from which to draw inspiration.
The importance of being able to put in the reps day in, day out in order to achieve mastery.
Self defeating thoughts we all feel when trying to achieve something difficult and the nature of "off days".

The wake up that men have been looking for

To keep it short and sweet just take a look at the podcast already.

Tune out to the societal noise and open your mind and I’m confident you will spend your listening time nodding your head.

I did.

Powerful and Insightful Content

I love this podcast.

There’s always so much to take away from each episode. Real, actionable advice and tips.

Joe has a wonderful way of interviewing his guests, and makes it about them - not him. A very important trait, as many hosts like to flip the conversations back about them.

The Boy Wonder ,

Informative and relatable - glad I found this

The Guild of Dads podcast is easy to listen to, has some great guests and has made me realise I’m
not on my own. So many resources out there for mums but finally one for us dads!

Joes simply vision of Vision+Action=Meaning really works. I tend to listen at the end of a stressful week and this really helps me out things into perspective. Thanks Joe!!!
