BITE SIZED #4: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THOUGHT

    A relationship with thought? What?
You are not thought thoughts! Sounds crazy? Well it's not, your brain is like a thought machine churning out 1000's of thoughts a day, some bad, some good, some terrifying. How you relate to these thoughts and more accurately changing how you relate to them is one of the cornerstones of great mental health. That's what I delve into today.
BITE SIZED: Short, sharp and to the point I tackle topics relevant to you guys and you can also get involved to tell me what you want to hear me talk about

MARK WILLIAMS - One Dads Story of Coming Back From Post Natal Depression

MARK WILLIAMS - One Dads Story of Coming Back From Post Natal Depression

My guest today is Founder of Fathers Reaching out and International Fathers Mental Health Day - Mark Williams

Very little attention is given to Dads that suffer from Post Natal Depression but it's a condition that is now being recognised far more than it was in the past. Mark suffered from it after the birth of his son and feeling that he could not speak to anyone about how he was feeling it led to a breakdown. Mark is passionate about speaking on Dads mental health issues and is recognised worldwide for his expertise in this area.

    On this episode we discuss:

How Mark suffered from low self esteem and anxiety and how he used to medicate how he felt by going to the pub
The massive impact being a part of a youth club in his teens had on his confidence and self belief
How witnessing trauma on the birth of his son sent him into a spiral of post natal depression
Why he feels Dads struggle to get help and the amazing work he does to raise awareness and knowledge around the area of Perinatal Health in Dads.

BITE SIZED #2: WHY SETTING AN EXAMPLE TO YOUR KIDS IS IMPORTANT

With questionable role models occurring in pop culture and arguably an absence of role models right now, its never been more important for parents to set an example to their kids.

MATT BROWN - The Power of Empathy in Conversations Around Fatherhood

Today I am joined by Matt Brown from the organisation Music Football Fatherhood.

With 2020 throwing up a number of challenges for Dads it's important to unpackage some of this, explore what it means for Dads going forward and how we learn from it.

On today's discussion we delve into the following:

How Dads come from different backgrounds but have commonalities that bond and unite us together
The importance of Men developing empathy with each other and joining their own tribe
The benefits of 2020 that caused Dads to re-evaluate their lives but the impact it has had on family mental health
The launch of MFF's new book "Dad", the inspiration behind it, and the stories it tells about modern fatherhood and it's challenges

JOE HORTON - My Story of Grief, Growth and finding Meaning

JOE HORTON - My Story of Grief, Growth and finding Meaning

Today on a Guild of Dads first, I tell my own story in a conversation with Coach and Author Andrew.G.Marshall
In this last episode of 2020 I finish the year by sharing with you a conversation I had recently on the Meaningful Life podcast with Andrew G Marshall (produced by Michael Dooney).
    On this episode we discuss:
How a very traumatic period in 2015 caused me to reflect hard on my life and what my life meant
A chance podcast listen which prompted me to join a Men’s mastermind and start to go to work on myself
The lone wolf fallacy that exists and how learning to co-exist in tribes with other men enabled me to grow in a way I had never done before
Why Men struggle with confronting their Man in the Mirror and going on a journey
How Vision + Action = Meaning works on a macro and micro level once you understand this simple Meaning Equation
