Episode 16: Sheila and I Get Frank About Mother’s Day

Episode 16: Sheila and I Get Frank About Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day in the UK. The chat you’re about to hear was the first interview I recorded for this podcast series, which was intentionally done on Mother’s Day. Sheila and I discuss where we are, in our journeys and how we have reclaimed Mother’s Day as a day we no longer feel we have to hide from.

Episode 15: A Chat with Zarina Mahmood About Miscarriages, Unwanted Childlessness and Acceptance

Episode 15: A Chat with Zarina Mahmood About Miscarriages, Unwanted Childlessness and Acceptance

In this episode, Zarina is so articulate in her pain, so delicate with her words and so achingly honest, here are parts of this interview that might be difficult to hear. I owe Zarina a lot for saying things I couldn’t say and for grabbing me and holding me close to her story, even though we had only just met. A Much Needed Source of Comfort!

I found this podcast during a year of undergoing unsuccessful infertility treatments & having to accept I will not be a biological mum which was a completely devastating personal blow. This podcast was a lifesaver!

Going through infertility can be incredibly isolating & listening to other people on a similar journey really helped me feel not quite so alone & out of place in today’s mommy/baby obsessed society.

Shannon’s tone is very down to earth & sensitive in all the right places yet light hearted too which is incredibly refreshing when dealing with such a heavy & emotive topic.

Thank you so much for doing these podcast Shannon - I hope there will be more coming soon as I have just finished no. 17!

Honest and uplifting

I am fortunate to have 3 children and so I was worried that I wouldn’t be ‘welcome’ listening to this podcast. But I was so wrong. Shannon has an amazing way of speaking to her audience in a very personal way - she feels like she’s talking directly to you. She is funny and honest, as are her guests. I have discovered that I am naturally nosey as I really enjoy listening to her intimate chats with her guests! A great podcast. Thank you Shannon.
