The Power of Story in the Creative Process with Susan Mar
I learnt at a young age life is short. I’ve carried that with me and made it my mission to tell people what they mean to me. I even do that with my clients. - Susan Mar
Susan Mar is a branding specialist: a creative for creatives. The way she understands aesthetics, the creative process, and even Instagram makes her really unique. She’s one of the loveliest humans, she overflows with love and appreciation and can really see the magic in others.
She’s also a member of my newest group programme - Sell Your Sh*t! In this episode we talk about creativity, selling your shit and the power of story. -
Social Video, with Sophia Smith Galer
“The aim is not to be viral, but to be high-value” - Sophia Smith Galer
Sophie Smith Galer is a senior news reporter at Vice World News, author of the new book Losing It: Sex Education for the 21st Century, and a TikTok content-creator extraordinaire.
We all know that journalism pre-dates social media, and has been weakened by it in some places, but Sophia has found a way to bridge the two, and is blazing a new path. She recently received a British Journalism Award on “Innovation of the Year” for her use of social media in reporting. -
Why you need to join Substack with Farrah Store
"Sometimes the best stories are the ones we don't set out to tell"
Much has changed for Farrah Storr since the last time she joined me on the podcast. A former editor of Cosmopolitan magazine, and editor-in-chief of Elle, Farrah now writes "Things Worth Knowing" on Substack, a tech newsletter platform that she calls "A personal media channel for the individual."
We had a wonderful conversation about storytelling, the return of long-form content, and the pleasures of writing in community, rather than one-way broadcasting.
Farrah is also a wealth of information if you'd like to try Substack for yourself! -
Why niching on Instagram is (generally) bad advice

Radical contentment, with Jamie Varon
“Maybe being able to earn your goodness and your worth is the true delusion.” - Jamie Varon
Jamie Varon is truly multi-hatted: she's a writer, designer, digital course creator, creative consultant, and author of the wonderfully-radical new book, Radically Content: being satisfied in an endlessly dissatisfied world. We had a fabulous, meaty conversation about the true things that drive us, where we find motivation, and the path to actual - rather than simply Instagrammable - contentment.

Great Podcast
Love the podcast and particularly enjoyed the episode with Nova Reid. I’m a strong believer that we need to continue having these difficult conversations if we’re to move forward as a society. Keep up the good work!
Love
I’ve just starting listening to this podcast over the past couple of months. I still have so many episodes to catch up on. I recently took the plunge in setting up my own photography business as lockdown started. These episodes give me so many ideas and so much hope on carrying on during this crazy time. Giving me a chance to re-evaluate and gain more skills and experience engaging in social media.
Favourite Podcast
Thank you so much Sara for my favourite podcast!
I have been listening to Hashtag Authentic for the last couple of years on my walk to my office job, unaware that I was actually building up so much insight for what the future would throw at me. Being made redundant this year, I have now turned my creativity into two businesses - a shop of my artwork and designs and a photography storytelling business with my husband. Having listened to Hashtag Authentic for so long it really has inspired me and given me the courage for this - so thank you! You have such a range of different guests - all fascinating and I feel like your conversations always feel so natural and genuine. Have highly recommended to quite a few people!
