HAUNTED: The Audio Drama tells the story of reclusive alcoholic writer James Hunter, bubbly enthusiastic podcaster Abigail Corbin and police officer Dan Cowell as they investigate strange and seemingly unexplainable phenomenon. Told in a classic serial format with episodes raging from suspenseful thrillers, to spine tingling horrors to laugh-out-loud comedies, HAUNTED: The Audio Drama is a horror adventure series that feels like Doctor Who crossed with The X Files.
Season 2 begins on April 16th 2023 and sees our trio playing a nationwide game of cat and mouse as they try to capture the wicked occultist Karl Trevino following his deadly antics in Greenvale in season 1. As they push further and further into the unexplained however, Dan and Abigail are forced to confront the idea that their friend James Hunter might not be who he says he is.

Abigail is cornered in the collapsed mine shaft my a mysterious figure who tells her she's walked into hell. He claims he doesn't want to hurt her, but can she trust the mysterious stranger? Meanwhile, Dan and James make their way into town but are almost killed as soon as they enter. Something terrible happened here, but will they be able to find out what it was before it kills them?

What’s not to like
An all round good audio drama. Good acting for the most. Good story line. Few bits can sound a little empty (no ambient sound) but these are few and far between and doesn’t really detract from the experience.
All I can say is give it a go. I’ve binged 22 episodes in 2 days 👍and still going
Funny AND Scary
In short, it’s impossible to dislike a show where a vampire is attacked with garlic dip. In fact, if anyone is collecting quotes from me to publish posthumously, I’d like them to open with that one. It’s a rule to live by.
Haunted shares DNA with series such as The X-Files and Doctor Who in that it melds genuine creepiness with a sense of fun and humour that crawls across all the brows, from low to high. But it is very much its own animal, transforming archetypes like the hard-drinking investigator into real characters that you can root for. It helps that the cast are clearly having a ball.
In Season 2’s opener, our central trio of James, Abigail and Dan are investigating a homeless shelter that seems to be doing a little too well in terms of reducing the number of people sleeping on the street. But that – garlic dip duly employed – is only the beginning of the newest case. Before episode one’s end, Abigail will have mysteriously disappeared only to find herself welcomed to… hell?
I don’t really want to say more than that – it’s the kind of story (and I suspect this may be true of the series overall) that rewards going in with little or no foreknowledge. But I can say that even jumping in at Season 2, the characters’ relationships are so well-drawn that I didn’t feel lost for a moment. There’s an air of layers waiting to be unpeeled, but the story also moves at a pleasingly snappy pace.
I jumped to episode 2 the moment the credits finished, which I hope says it all.
Recommended for those who like a little levity mixed in with their scary. Both work equally well.
Good story & well made
Ok so it’s not full scale professional acting or production but it’s a great storyline and well put together. As a ‘suspend your belief’, supernatural story it works well, give it a go if you’re not sure and take it for what it is. You might be surprised. Congrats to the team who put it together.
