Marmite
Seems to me a clear case of this being a Marmite Podcast, i.e, you either love it or hate it. I’m definitely in the former category.
In essence, you have to “get” the humour and just roll with the random diversions away from the subject. Sometimes this gets a little too much, but never too often. The three have a great chemistry and deliver each Podcast with humour and sarcasm - right up my street. Sometimes not being American may result in some issues with US reference points. As a Welshman, I’ll also forgive them for the butchered Welsh place names in the Bridgend suicide episode!
I only discovered the Podcast a few months ago and have been trawling through the extensive back catalogue. There are some great episodes to listen to, always funny and always informative. I’ve learnt a lot about subjects/people I’d never heard of before. You’ll know within a minute or two if it’s you’re thing or not. I hope it is…..
Truly dreadful
This made my ears bleed. I was hoping to learn something about Catherine the Great but when they (finally!) broached the subject (after an interminable self-indulgent introduction) I realised I knew more than the host (or whichever of them wrote the ‘script’) and I don’t know that much. For a start, I know her NAME, but that’s the first thing they struggled with.
The hosts labour under the impression that they are hilariously funny, but ‘labour’ is the operative word. If I wanted to listen to people talking nonsense about a subject they have less than a passing acquaintance with, I’d go to the pub. In fact that’s exactly what I did after about the fourth or fifth “fact” (that a casual glance at Wikipedia would confirm as erroneous), and I had a much better time.
Love
They are funny informative and I love the banter
