    Oliver Tambo: the ANC in exile

    South African history. When, on 27th March 1960, OR Tambo was driven across the border to begin his ‘mission in exile’, he could not have suspected that he would not step foot on South African soil again for the next 30 years. His triumphant return in 1990 finally reunited him with his business partner, ANC comrade and great friend Nelson Mandela.
