Refreshing

In the gundog world there are many different trainers each with their own take on how things should be taught based on their own experience on what has worked for them in the past. This podcast is well written and explains in exquisite detail how to do exercises, such as the marking exercises and the clicker retrieve. Jo also strives to explain WHY this has worked for her in her classes. If these techniques have failed for some dogs she explains the reasoning as to why and offers other positive techniques that may help.
I have been binge-listening to this podcast series this week and will recommend it to my gundog friends. Thank you!

Thank you

Jo, thank you so much for creating this. What a comprehensive series, from general discussions on positive training methods, to dealing with distractions/ arousal and increasing engagement, to practical things to take forward into training sessions like the clicker retrieve. Can’t remember life without this podcast. I just hope the book finds its way out soon too!

gundog heelwork

loved this podcast. Just recently had to stop doing gundog work with my dog and started competition obedience and have exactly the problem you mention. Obedience trainers use a lot of food and my dog is also used to food rewards in gundog work - so trained him to look at me while walking / waiting at heel (to stop running in) and have the problem of losing the mark!! Looking forwards to your solutions.
