My name is Simone and I am trying to dig my way out of a quarter-life crisis. I've realised that burying my head in the sand (no matter how deep I go) doesn't actually help, but talking to people about their experiences, really does!
Here on How to Adult i'll be talking to different people about their quarter-life journey's and hear some incredible stories along the way. I'm hoping that we can learn, laugh and get through this together! I mean, does anyone really know how to adult?

How To Adult: Instagram vs Reality

How To Adult: Instagram vs Reality

Part 2 of my conversation with Zac. This episode we talk about the reality of Instagram, specifically a trip we both took to Bali and how we discovered that in reality some of what we saw online was manufactured. Can we trust what we see on instagram, and should we be more transparent? As life after lockdown starts again it felt important I reminded myself that instagram is more often than not only a tiny glimpse of a much bigger picture which might not always be the real reality.

How To Adult: When You're Stuck Renting

How To Adult: When You're Stuck Renting

This episode I talk to Austin about how to make your rental house a home! For someone like myself that will probably have to rent for a long time, this is what I needed to hear! For the last several years I have lived in spaces that do not feel like my own and on occassion I’ve felt quite anxious to be in them. What I learnt most from speaking to Austin was that you don’t have to wish away years waiting to make a house you own a home. You can transform any space and make it our own, which can inevitably improve your mental health! We talk about the struggles of renting, strange landlords, trying to get on the property ladder, and Austin shares some tips on how to make your rental house feel like a home - all which I was pleasantly surprised were possible without spending a lot of money! (And landlord friendly!)

    How To Adult: With Uncertainty

    How To Adult: With Uncertainty

This episode I talk to Rosh, who was brought up as an army child, due to his dad being in the army, which meant that he constantly moved around the world his whole childhood, and was never certain of his next destination or school. We talk about Rosh's experience growing up and ways in which he managed to deal with this uncertainty! Hopefully it can provide a little comfort and reassurance during this current uncertain time, I know it helped me!

    How To Adult: Without Uni

    How To Adult: Without Uni

This episode I talk to my friend from home Lucy, who is one of very few people who chose not to go to Uni in my year at sixthform form. Which blows my mind that so many people didn't make this choice! We talk about her experience straight into full time employment and answer questions like, did she miss out on anything? Is there a stigma attached to not going? What has she achieved since, and what are her thoughts on the decisions you make straight out of school?

I definitely needed this right now

This podcast is super refreshing to hear. Quarter life crisis are real and not talked about, the fact we don’t speak about what we truly want and how miserable we really are isn’t healthy.

This podcast is a curious take on that, while actively having those conversations which informs your own thinking to allow you figure it out yourself!

Big up Simone

Highly recommended for anyone feeling a little lost.

I wish I’d had this to listen to when I was coming out of university. Illuminating the struggles and sticky bits that people often feel ashamed to share. This podcast is brilliantly honest.

Easy listening

In a time where everything appears to be on hold, the distance between where we are and where we want to be seems infinite. It’s refreshing to hear people my own age talk about exactly how I’m feeling! Can’t wait for more!
