I Saw That Years Ago

Ever picked up a film you haven't seen for a while and thought that it was an under-appreciated classic? Then, after taking it home and watching it once more, you remember what it was really like and how your memory has tricked you into buying another terrible movie. I Saw That Years Ago sets out to watch those films that we think are brilliant but which we haven't seen for a little too long to be sure. So, can our brains be trusted?
Come for the reviews - stay for the rambling.

An absolute gem that deserves to be more widely appreciated. I was looking for a film review podcast when I stumbled upon Martin and Joe by accident. Being an ‘I know what I like’ type of guy when it came to films I was after advice on watching something different………enter ISTYA. Several binge sessions later and the chaps had imparted not only their celluloid wisdom but so, so much more. Want an example of what I mean? Well, you’ve got a back catalogue of over 350 episodes to choose from, but you could do worse than listening to the chaps discuss Dirty Harry in episode 123. If you don’t come away with an appreciation for the film and it’s cast, whilst also wiping away tears of laughter having listened to Martin and Joe wax lyrical on concealed weaponry, I’ll be amazed. What really delights, however, is the editing. Too often, podcasts are honed to a degree of ‘perfection’ that, whilst making them slick, ends up eviscerating the heart and soul out of them…not here. Here, you have pauses that would make a radio producer break into a cold sweat; the names of films and actors are sometimes forgotten (don’t be fooled though, these boys know their stuff) and more innuendo and giggling than on the back seat of the average school bus. Far from being detracting these add a genuine, human element that’s so often missing from programs like this. Subscribe to ISTYA, get yourself two new mates and feel as if you’re having a natter with them down the local whenever you listen. Thank you chaps!
Very enjoyable

Not too overlong, this podcast has two guys - one of whom has a very infectious laugh - talking about what they remember about childhood films and then actually watching it again to discuss it in the present day. Enjoyable.
Somewhat adorable and addictive

Awww I love listening to these crazy funny guys. Really entertaining to chill out with the episodes. They’re great company, laugh infectiously and a lot and make me laugh. A lot. I also think I might want to have Gentleman Joe’s baby!; but would mostly settle for an evening down the pub with him instead. Mostly. Oh, and they know some things about films as well. Thanks guys. Please keep podcasting your crazy wisdom; you help keep me sane!

I've only listened to one episode but the phrase "piccolo player" earns you an instant 5 stars
