Indispensible

This is probalby one of the most important radio series ever conceived. The content is not dumbed down - it is up to date, challenging and thought provoking. The whole series needs to be made available as a national treasure.
Actually here is a request (if anybody reads this) why can we not download all the programmes (since most of us only just got an ipod!) - would love to catch up.

The best show on radio

Truly the best show on the radio, and the podcast adds bonus material which sometimes contains key insight.
The 'arts' episodes are better than the science episodes, which probably reflects Melvyn's background in the arts.
Noteable espiodes are: The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Battle of Salamis, The Battle of Lincoln 1217, Emmy Noether, Seneca the Younger, Hokusai, P vs NP , The Fighting Temeraire, Four Quartets, Rosa Luxemburg.
My only complaint, is that the whole back-catalogue isn't available as a podcast, as has to be accessed through the BBC website.

A bounty of information – amazing!

Since I discovered In Our Time around two years ago, I have learned so much about history, science, philosophy, the world and our place within it, and lots more. With first-class, field-leading expert guests, quizzed exceptionally by Melvyn Bragg, this show is a bounty of FREE learning – delivered in an entertaining and upbeat fashion. Hats off to Melvyn, the IOT team and the BBC for this incredible show.
