If you are interested in your place in the planet Earth ecosystem, this is the one for you! Wide ranging in subject matter, highly practical and yet at times deeply philosophical, Into the Wilderness podcast is the best there is. From listening to Byron Pace’s brilliant podcasts, I have learnt a huge amount over the past 2 years about the latest fascinating science that supports the management of the world’s threatened natural environments.

Not just for hunters

Fantastic podcast, and not just for hunters. This should be mandatory listening for anyone who eats meat or is a vegitarian / vegan; hunts or fishes or is anti-hunting / fishing; has an opinion (either way) on trophy hunting or doesn't have any opinion on trophy hunting; is interested in conservation; anyone who wants to get into hunting or fishing but doesn't know where to start; anyone who needs inspiration to travel; and anyone who cares, or has never thought about, where their food comes from and how it is produced. If you don't fit in to any of those categories, you may as well gove it a listen anyway because it is also very entertaining! The thing that sets this podcast appart from other hunting media is that they are willing to listen to and debate other points of view in an approachable and constructive way. They acknowledge that the hunting and conservation world is not perfect, and are constantly using this platform to find ways to improve that. Darryl and Byron (and the majority of their guests) are just as likely to challenge hypocracy, poor ethics and bad practice within the hunting community as they are to challenge those with aposing views to their own. This is not just a podcast for hunters. A few of my favourate episodes: If you're interested in where your food comes from try episodes: 43 (Scott Rea) 52 (Louise Gray) 50 (Donald Barry on farming) 96 (Corin Smith on salmon farms) If you're interested in conservation try episodes: 30 (Ivan Carter) 46 (Ivan Carter again) 62 (RSPB & GWCT on Grouse Moors) 112 & 122 (Pangolin) 115 (trophy hunting) 140 (lead shot) 142 (trophy hunting) If you want to get into hunting or fishing and don't know where to start try episodes: 41 (Rodger Lait) 96 (Corin Smith) If you want to be inspired to travel and find adventure try episodes: 82 (Kim Hughs GC) 86(Kuran Ireland) 87 (Jenna Gearing) 95 (Ed Stafford) 137 (Levison Wood)
