This week we are talking with Parveen Dhanda, who is head of programmes at Tech Nation. Tech Nation is the growth platform for tech companies and leaders. We ask Parveen what attracted her to the business and what her journey in tech has looked up until now. This week we are talking with Henry Whorwood, who is Head of Research & Consultancy at Beauhurst. Beauhurst is an online platform that assists companies and individuals to discover, track, and understand high-growth businesses.



We ask Henry what attracted him to the business, which was itself a start-up at the time he joined. We also explore the day to day work he undertakes in his job, his transferable skills and what he studied at University in order to secure his position at the company.  An answer which might surprise you!



We also ask him what he is looking for in people at interview, and his best advice for young people looking to move into a career in data, the financial sector and the tech sector in London.

This week on the show, we are talking with Sarah Ward from CMR Surgical who are based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. CMR Surgical is a company who is developing a new surgical robot to help surgeons carry our keyhole surgery.  Sarah is a Research Engineer at the company.  We ask Sarah about her role in the company, and her views about being at the starting point of industry 4.0 and a world of robotics. We also ask Sarah about her best advice for others and her career path up to this point.

This week on the show, we are talking with Mark Davidson, who is the Deputy Head Teacher at Newbattle High School in Dalkeith, Scotland. The school recently won the Scottish Education Award for Employability and Creativity Skills Across Learning, which is a fantastic achievement and very well deserved.  We ask Mark about what went into making this happen, and how others can learn from the fantastic initiatives and partnerships the school have created to be recognised in this way.  Eduvate has worked closely with the school over the last 2 years, and we would be the first to say that Newbattle High, which is the first Digital Centre Of Excellence in Scotland, is a shining example of how schools across the world should be approaching Employability and Skills Readiness for the 21st Century.  Ensuring students leave school prepared is quite simply in their DNA.

This week, we’re speaking with Lee Clarke, who is the Cadet Training Manager at V.Ships. We discuss the company culture at V Ships to get a flavour of what it would be like to work there. We explore the opportunities available in the company, what they are looking for from cadet applicants and how they support their employees in all aspects of the job, including in areas of mental health. In addition, we ask Lee about his personal journey in the maritime industry and we explore how industry 4.0 (automation and robotics) will impact the types of jobs that will become available in the future and how VShips is addressing these challenges with their Cadet X program.
