Episode 45: Demystifying and Taking Control of Your Personal Finances with the co-founders of Millennial Money, Shaq and Niaz.

Episode 45: Demystifying and Taking Control of Your Personal Finances with the co-founders of Millennial Money, Shaq and Niaz.

In this episode, I speak to Shaq and Niaz, co-founders of Millennial money.  Most millennials find managing money quite difficult. Millennial Money UK creates and curates content relating to personal finance targeted at young people. Financial empowerment often comes from better understanding and education. But not enough of us seek help in financial planning, despite the advantages it can give. We’ve all grown up with the notion that money makes the world go round, yet so few of us really feel comfortable, or qualified, to engage in the money conversation. They’ve created a community sharing so much educational content to help people become more financially savvy. To meet your financial goals, we need to be able to better track and budget our spending, and alter our daily spending. And whilst many of us have been working from home and thus saving money on commuting, eating out and general shopping, maybe it’s time to divert most of that ‘saved’ money towards investing to be able to make more money. Our finances also affect our mindset directly. There’s peace of mind in knowing that our finances are in good shape – and the feeling of stress when they’re not, or when we’re not sure - so if you’re feeling like you’re in that space, this episode is perfect for you. We talk about how you can become more financially savvy with your own money, saving, investing, why you should pay yourself first and much more.

Episode 44: Discovering and Building out an Advocacy as an Influencer with the founder of Peco Bag, Yumika Hoskin.

Episode 44: Discovering and Building out an Advocacy as an Influencer with the founder of Peco Bag, Yumika Hoskin.

In 2020, we saw a fundamental shift in how people think about the world. This is due to the growing pressure of issues threatening human existence: climate change, income inequality, food and water shortages, fires, mental health issues and more. This is why you'll see many influencers focusing on the bigger picture as advocates.
Yumika has been in the entertainment space here in Singapore for the past 4 years and has worked with some incredible brands, including SkII, Dyson, Superdry, Clarins and much more. She’s also presented for various networks including the likes of MTV Asia, the Premier League and,  ESPN.
She is a true eco-warrior voicing for what she stands for, including the growing issue with plastics. Motivated by her passion to do her part for sustainability and conservation, she launched her own business called Peco Bag in 2019. Peco Bags are reusable, foldable bags created from regenerated textiles.
If you’re building a career in the entertainment and modelling industry,  or are interested in building a personal brand for advocacy, or just want to learn more about the sustainability industry and living a more conscious lifestyle - then this episode is for you. *Please note that my mic was faulty, so my voice may not be as clear as Yumika's in this episode. Apologies in advance.

Episode 43: The Habits and Foods to Increase Brain and Emotional Health with Nutritional Therapist, Laura Lam.

We all know that “health is wealth” and “food is medicine.” This has become even more apparent over the past year going through this pandemic. It’s caused us all to be more conscious of our health - whether that’s because we’ve been through this lockdown or because we’ve seen those around us decline in health.

In this episode, I speak to Laura Lam - a registered Nutritional Therapist and Functional Medicine Practitioner. She helps individuals regain control over their health. Food and nutrition is something that she’s been passionate about for all of her life. Having suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for a number of years, she understands how debilitating digestive problems can be to everyday life. Laura works with individuals with digestive disorders such as IBS, IBD and SIBO, hormone imbalances, thyroid diseases, mental health conditions, chronic fatigue and tiredness, low immunity and much more.
In this episode, we talk about starting your own business or brand as a wellness expert in your specific niche. And if you are a startup founder, and feel like you’re constantly overburning and living an unbalanced lifestyle - then this conversation will be a great introduction to how you can live a healthier lifestyle through nutrition and diet. We cover functional medicine, leaky gut, the effectiveness of juicing, supplements, mushrooms, TCM and so much more.

Episode 42: Building Asia’s Biggest Fashion E-commerce brand with the Co-founder of Love, Bonito, Rachel Lim.

On today's episode, we are in conversation with Rachel Lim - who started the online fashion business known as Love, Bonito at the age of 19. After borrowing her mum’s life savings during the financial crisis, she has managed to build the brand into a million-dollar fashion label.
Her main focus is marketing, branding and design - but she also oversees community building, content creation and customer service, all key areas to any e-commerce business. Rachel has redefined the fashion scene in Singapore and grew her $500 blog shop outfit into a multi-million dollar label. The brand remains the leading fashion label in Asia, designed specifically for modern Asian women, and has grown beyond Singapore to HK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Australia. Rachel was honoured by Forbes as Asia’s 30 under 30 in 2016.

In the episode, we get real about the journey she’s been through in growing one of the most notable fashion brands in the region over the last 14 years. We look at her strategic approach in the e-commerce space and her own personal growth strategies and key beliefs she’s had to develop in order to grow personally and professionally.
