A time travelling trip to The Legend of Ruby Sunday

A time travelling trip to The Legend of Ruby Sunday

James and Magnus commit to an after-show omnibus with a five episode review of the latest season of Doctor Who finishing with the penultimate episode, The Legend of Ruby Sunday. And James misremembers his Pyramids of Mars.

    For shame.

Go Figure, the Character Options figurine collection

Go Figure, the Character Options figurine collection

We're delighted to welcome Gareth Kavanagh to this week's podcast, in which we discuss Go Figure!

This is the upcoming book detailing the entirety of the Character Options Doctor Who figurine range. It's already achieved its funding goal on Indiegogo, but you have 4 days left (as of June 15th, 2024) to help the project reach some tasty looking stretch goals.

Go Figure! is edited by Gary Russell, designed by Will Brooks, and features high-quality photographs by Doctor Who collector Richard Lloyd (YouTube's @StetsonDoctor).

Gareth joins Christian Cawley and James McLean to discuss Go Figure!, and recall a shared adventure at a convention 6 years ago...

Contemporary Language in Sci-fi TV and Movies

Contemporary Language in Sci-fi TV and Movies

In this podcast, Christian Cawley and James McLean commence a conversation that takes them into an unexpected direction, namely language.

Why is representation of contemporary language so poor in TV and movies? Beyond expletives in Hollywood movies, the representation of what we archaicly refer to as "street talk" is in most cases laughable.

Remembering William Russell - The Adventures of Sir Lancelot Commentary

Remembering William Russell - The Adventures of Sir Lancelot Commentary

Esteemed British actor William Russell sadly passed away on June 4th, 2024, at the age of 99. An actor with a career spanning 73 years, his final screen appearance was, of course, in a 2022 Doctor Who episode, The Power of the Doctor.

Over the years, Russell (who also acted under the name Russell Enoch) accumulated a remarkable 109 screen and audio credits (based on an IMDb figure which we suspect is incomplete) dating back to 1949.

In this podcast, we take a look at Russell's most famous role before Doctor Who. 30 episodes of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot were recorded, a show that was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Such a hit, in fact, that some episodes were recorded in colour, way back in 1956!

So, join Christian Cawley and James McLean as they watch, and talk over, episode 1 of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot.

Yes…No…I Don’t Know

Rarely agree with a word they say, but likeable trio of Doctor Who fans who give an interesting angle on the latest episodes. James “Yes, No, I Don’t Know” McLean fights his inner turmoil in an ongoing saga that can never have a good ending.

Hmmm

Feels like this has lost its way somewhat. The episode reviewing the first Gatwa story was a real fun free zone with James and what sounded like a female clone of him, droning on about agency and patriarchy whilst sounding half asleep.

Great DW podcast!

Been listening to this podcast for many years and one of the best out there. Keep up the good work guys!
