A podcast about the IFB Cult as told by survivor Sadie Carpenter, with her co-host Gavri'el HaCohen. This podcast covers the IFB, the history of the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement, other cults, other religions, and the real and present threat that cults and cult ideologies pose to society as a whole. Our goal is to promote freedom of mind, freedom of thought, and freedom of religion.
General Content Warning: In general we talk about a lot of potentially triggering topics on this show, including but not limited to suicide and mental health, racism, misogyny, PTSD and PTSD symptoms, child abuse, mental, physical, and sexual abuse, and spiritual abuse including guilt, shame, and fear. In most episodes we’ll mention at least a few of these topics, but we try very hard to avoid graphic detail unless it’s relevant to the story we’re telling, and we do our best to give the audience a heads-up before going into detail on any of these topics.

Brilliant
I love this podcast and the dynamic between Sadie and Gavriel. It is rivetting, especially as someone who grew up in a different cult (or two!) to observe the similarities and differences. I'm about a year behind, so have just listened to the Abortion episode, which frankly didn't make me mad as I agree that a more measured approach would benefit everyone. Talk of people being "pro-life" always raises questions for me, as I wonder what their view of the death penalty is: in the cult I grew up in, people were fiercely pro-birth, but Pastors would state unequivocally that they support the death penalty, which although it doesn't exist in our country any more, they would like to see re-introduced!!
I have dropped all other podcasts to catch up on this!
Really enjoying learning about Sadie’s life and a deep dive into fundie culture, you guys are great narrators and tackle some pretty tough issues really thoughtfully 🙂
Great podcast
Sadie seems incredibly compassionate, which is especially touching considering what she has been through. The information is presented in a really interesting way. Only slight drawback is continually talking about being ‘allies’ - your content and beliefs make your political alignment quite obvious, you shouldn’t need to feel you have to virtue signal. Overall, a riveting podcast.
